Westone Thunder 1-A Bass For sale - non original parts?!!

First post on this site...

Basically I'm here as i've a Westone Thunder 1-A Active Bass guitar for sale on ebay - it's been sat with me unused and unplayed for about 20 years now, so it's time for it to go to a home where it'll get use.  I acquired it from my parents neighbour in about 1995 and since then they've moved away and I've lost touch with him so i can't ask him about it's history. so here it is on ebay:

A prospective buyer contacted me however and said some parts dont look original - namely the neck, bridge and knobs.  

I don't suppose anyone here has any idea / opinions about this Bass - ie does anyone know if they aren't original and maybe where the parts actually came from?

I guess it's the one being sold with an amp?
If so the bridge, knobs and socket are not original, the neck looks to have come from a different bass although still a westone. If you have a look at the bass pictures section on this site you will see how an original should look. Good luck.

Looks like Clive said....except I think the neck is original. I have 2 1A's and the necks look identical to yours. Beautiful playing and sounding basses, if shipping to the states weren't so much and you were willing, I'd be interested in yours. The grain in the body wings is awesome!

As far as I'm aware, and according to the website pictures there was no Thunder 1a natural body with non-matching headstock, looks to me a non original neck, but definately a thunder neck.
shame about the ugly jack socket, maybe it was cut to hide some damage at some point in it's past?.

Judging by my 2 '82's Sarge, I'm thinking it was originally gloss black like one, finish stripped, and ended up looking like my natural finish 82 except the headstock wasn't stripped to match.

Hell, if I can figure it out, I'll post pix of my remaining 1A's. The natural one has a natural finish headstock.....what a beautiful amalgamation of wood!

The natural finish basses have the skunk stripes in the middle of the body, the painted versions had no stripes under the paint, and the wood is different. I just stripped one and was disappointed how awful the grain was.
They painted them for a reason!

All you had to do was ask!

The painted one's are maple bodied.
Including the 6 stringers.

"Heinz 57" varieties.   

maybe the body was from a wooden model, but perhaps it's been waxed with a clear wax which brings out the grain.  i don't know....thanks anyway for your help guys.
