Pickup swap
Would it be sacralidge to replace my hh spectrum with single coils. Can't post pictures yet of what I have but I have an hh config with 3 knobs, 1 3 way and 3 mini toggles. It is active, but some wires seem to do nothing. I have a bandmaster locking trem, and would consider gutting and creating seething interesting. Not a metal player. Would consider just about any system

Re: Pickup swap
It's your guitar and you can do whatever you want with, eh! The Spectrums aren't rare or unusual, though some of the finishes were, and many had UBC pickups in them that aren't that powerful or even interesting, so swapping the pups out is no biggie.
I have to say, though that yours sounds like a Spectrum DX with the 2 x h/b and Bendmaster FT bridge. The bridge/stringlock combination is a pretty good one; I prefer it to the Deluxe, at any rate, if only for the ease of intonating the bloody thing!!!

Re: Pickup swap
Thanks, I seem to like the make up of the bridge, seems solid. I am considering putting tele gfs pick ups in or something else from gfs, just wondering about others experiences, and while I have the holes, what can I do?

Re: Pickup swap
Interesting idea.
The only Mats Spectrum I know of that came with SC's was the SP2111ST, however, it has the typical Strat 3 pup layout, not a Tele format. Many of the other models contain SC's in various arrangements, but always in a 3 pup layout.
In theory, the Tele pups should sound good, but you have to deal with the existing incompatible humbucker routings, so you're into a potential world o' pain installing them physically, especially the bridge.
GFS has great products. What you might consider instead are their humbucker sized P90's or even the lipstick (Danelectro style) humbucker single coils. Just drop 'em in.
