New to forums, Westone Dynasty project
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I am new to the forums, but my 'nasty has been sitting around with me for many years, waiting to be restored. Now I am finally in a place where I am ready to start. I got this on a trade for an old busted up acoustic that probably wasn't worth $15US. The neck is not original (duh) and it is missing a bridge saddle and the outer for the pickup. Also has a couple cracks around the neck mounting area that I'm guessing is related to the missing neck. Jerks. Anyway, any tips on where I could find a new neck (not expecting to) or a single saddle would be appreciated. I have no idea if this is an early model or later one, or any other details about the guitar other than it's a Dynasty.

Well, hi there and welcome!
Oh, dear; you want a neck?! I think they were peculiar to the Dynasty/Dimension IV watching the online auctions for either a neck or a donor guitar may be your only option.... unless you have the skills to build one. One of our blokes is building a 12 string Spectrum and is making the neck from some fuzzy photos; I'm sure he'd be willing to help with info and advice! And we have a proper luthier in here as well who is free with advice....
Another potential area of concern is that when the original neck went west, the stringlock went with it and I've found that these bridges really need that lock if you're going to widdle around on the bar a lot....
Does the guitar have its original electronics - pickups, switches, pots - and the original knobs?
I've got saddles spare - I think!! - ill have a look and get back to you!
We'd love to see some hi-res close ups to see what you've got, eh!

Re: New to forums, Westone Dynasty project
Hi Spaz.
What a bummer. One of the major things that differentiated Mats instruments was their necks. And particularly on this model, it really looks goofy without the pointy headstock at least.
Just thinking aloud here, and correct me if I'm on a wrong path Johnny, but would it be possible to fit something from the later Spectrum series?
I'm particularly looking at an MIK SP series for example. Not likely an easy find though. More likely to find a stray Electra/Spectrum neck on eBay?

Find a cool Westone Pantera neck. That would look nice. There was one on Ebay recently.
Actually, I'd just find a nice neck with jumbo frets and a pointy headstock like Jackson or something.

Always copy the middle link at imgserve from the 3 options and it'll appear as it should.

Not necessarily. The "thumbnail" image is for use on Forums. It is hyperlinked to the full image so you don't have to take up bandwidth and room unnecessarily.jim wrote:...He copied the 'thumbnail' link by mistake I suppose ...?

That would look really good, but I think the odds of finding another one are slimmer than a Spectrum or sumthin' else pointy. Still, if you're patient...The Chad wrote:Find a cool Westone Pantera neck. That would look nice. There was one on Ebay recently...

Re: New to forums, Westone Dynasty project
Thanks everyone. I'll take some closeups of the pickups, and under the back covers later tonight. I intended to post only the thumblink. All forums are different and etiquette on each is different. Some don't like it when you post full images in a thread so I was just covering my bases. As for the neck, thanks for the tips and I will keep my eyes open on ebay and see what pops up.

Re: New to forums, Westone Dynasty project
Thanks for the consideration, but not too many worries here. The forum will accept up to 800 pixels width x 600 pixels height.Spazbite wrote:...I intended to post only the thumblink. If your image is larger it will automatically re-size down for display and add a link above it to optionally enlarge it if you have a large enough screen to view it. "Smart" phone users appreciate the thumbnail image I'm sure.
