Need help with wiring MMK53s
Hi Everybody,
I got a Paduak II at a garage sale that has two MMK53s in it. The tone controls were gone and all the wiring was globbed on the volume control. I am going to try to put it back to being 1 volume, 2 tones and a 3-way pickup selector. The MMK53s have a red wire, a white wire, and a ground. All the diagrams I find show 4 wire humbuckers and I don't know how it is done with the wiring that I have. If anybody could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruno

Re: Need help with wiring MMK53s
the white wire is humbucker output
the red wire is the center connection between the humbucker's coils.
the red lead is connected to ground by a switch for coil tap to make it single coil output. if you do not want to use a coil tap option, simply insulate the ends of the red wires and leave unconnected.
shield wire is ground
a cheap, simple multimeter is very helpful to verify the coil connections on your pickups
Here is a wiring diagram you can use for one volume and 2 tones with 3-way switch
oh, and BTW, we love pictures...

Re: Need help with wiring MMK53s
Thanks gittarasaurus for the info. Is the MMK53s considered a good sound for single coil option?
Thanks,
Bruno
