Very nice (though wrong neck o' the woods for me, & wrong hand...) - makes my poor battered '84 look a bit poorly in comparison...

Interesting. My recently restored '83 Thunder I-A had all brass hardware, including the nut. The pix on the web site also show that same configuration for the Thunder I.
This one is all chrome with a plastic nut.

For the Thunder I-T, the '83 catalogue reckons the nut is bone, whereas my '84 model has a graphite nut (like the Thunder Jet of the same year) - could the change from brass be anything to do with reducing friction because of the trem, I wonder? Also the chrome knurled knobs were replaced by black ribbed knobs by '84 (not the later Switchmaster type - albeit superficially similar, these are parallel-sided, rather than tapered)

I've seen those tuners on Concord IIs a few times, I likes em.
You all might remember my first Westone was a red thunder 1t, I really couldn't get along with that guitar at all, though I couldn't put my finger on why, I remember it to be really really bright, possibly the all maple body combined with the trem and 45's...I dunno, Steve G. A. S Man seems to like it though, which I'm glad of.
I really must get my hands on a thunder au natural to see if it feels better in my hands, watch this space....... .

You're probably correct there punky. Wasn't thinking about that. Still, it does look...ordinary.punkyjam67 wrote:...could the change from brass be anything to do with reducing friction because of the trem, I wonder?...

Although I have not yet A-B'd my Thunders, the "new" '83 (Maple) does strike my ears as not only somewhat louder but a tad brighter than my '81 (Ash). That said, the '83 is also a string thru and has sustain for days, whereas the '81 is a surface mount bridge with only slightly less noticeable sustain. They definitely do have different characters.Sgt.
