wanted:aria zz custom
Hm, since i saw the "aria zz custom" (that one with the stains of blood) that is currently for sale in Toronto I can't get it out of my head...does perhaps someone know about one in Europe that's for sale? I'd be thankful for every help.
Best wishes,
Hans

There's a collector/player in Germany whose got the set of ZZ's; they seem to pop up there more than in the US so keep looking and good luck!!

I think you'll be OK; I have had a few guitars come in from overseas that have had the necks removed and they've gone back on fine. Pack it well, Hans, that's all I'd say; much bubble wrap!!

Re: wanted:aria zz custom
he'll hopefully pack it well ...this zz has a act-2 tremolo. Does perhaps someone here have a act-3 tremolo that he/she would sell or knows anything about one?(i know the chance is pretty small, but asking doesn't cost anything )
Re: wanted:aria zz custom
Yeah, the ACT trems were peculiar to APII, so the Matt forums

.... would probably be a little more helpful! You'll let us have a look at it when you get it, yes?!

+1
Of course, you can't take the neck off of the bayonet mount, set necks, and neck-thru guitars.
I've sent several bolt-on neck guitars to Europe in 2 pieces. An electric with the neck still on goes in a box bigger than many European countries will accept from the US mail.

Re: wanted:aria zz custom
here's a little preview (the "lock nut washers" and some screws are missing and the roland gk2 isn't installed any more,so i will have to fill some holes in the body. The original machine heads and the locking nut have been replaced by other parts, but i'll get the original parts)
Re: wanted:aria zz custom
oooh, nice! That blue burst does it for me!! It looks pretty much complete, too... Why were the OEM machines replaced, do you know?
Have a look here..
http://www.matsumoku.org/models/ariaproii/zz.html
...when you get it, you could break it down and let the good folk at Matt know what it is, because that finish doesn't show on the documentation they've got so far!!
Good catch: expensive?

Re: wanted:aria zz custom
The previous owner replaced them with "sperzel"-machine heads so tuning and changing the strings was easier (I think).
About the price: It was far not so expensive as the "bloodstain-design"-zz custom in Toronto, but a little more expensive than I thought it might be worth. I guess the guitars built by unkle Matt are always a little bit more expensive in Europe than in the rest of the world? But as it is blue burst and it looks even better than the bloodstains (to me) I jumped on it. (didn't even know that the zz custom was available in blue burst, until i read it in a catalogue yesterday)
As soon as the guitar arrives it'll get new strings and i'll send an email with pictures to them.

Re: wanted:aria zz custom
Looks like a good find. I hadn't realised just how little "body" there is on these. Like some of the Gibbo Firebird/ Explorer models but less is clearly more!
Aria share the Uncle Mat DNA with our Westones and my old Washburn Raven, so good luck with the resto jobs

Re: wanted:aria zz custom
hm,ok...I don't know why, but our email-ping-pong suddenly ended 2 weeks ago with him saying that he has too much to do to send the guitar at the moment and he is going to see if it will be possible at the end of march. He didn't respond to any further email...seriously...WTF? In the end, I probably won't get this guitar (after he promised it will be mine)...
STUNNING!!!!
It's so beautiful!!!
Gosh, Just think how great Aria, Westone and all the rest of the Made In Japan models were!!!!
This baby was meant to rock!!!!!
