Translation on WestoneGuitars.net site

I have just noticed that the Translation widget located in the page footer on our information site has stopped working.

It appears to be related to an incompatibility with a recent WordPress software upgrade, and unfortunately, at this time there does not appear to be a quick fix. Meantime you can try Google's page translation.

Apologies to those who rely on this service. I'll keep looking for a way to restore it.

I have been re-visiting this problem and have confirmed that it is indeed an incompatibility issue with the last upgrade version of the site software which is to blame.

There are other widgets available but many of these too are incompatible or are overly complicated to install or use.

So...I have temporarily removed the Translate widget until such time as their developers catch up with the current Wordpress version.

I am pleased to report that I have now found a replacement translator.

After experimenting with various configurations I decided to opt for the simplest interface (drop down list, text only) rather than clutter up the footer with 40-odd flag icons.

What is rather nice about this one is that you can optionally set the translator to automatically make your language choice the default presentation on the site! That means if you speak French, the site should automatically present you with the French translation version each time you revisit.

It appears to be working well. Please let me know if you experience difficulties.

Quick update:

Some of you may have noticed that the translator widget on the web site is gone. It was causing some database issues for our host benefactor, MacScruff's and had to be removed. Since this was a convenience feature only and not a vital part of the site I had no problems agreeing with Neil to trash it.

Anyone requiring translation can easily do so via Google's website.
Our apologies to anyone who may have relied on it.
