Re: P90--the bacon of the pickup world
nearly 200 guitars bought/sold (with 50 and reducing currently in possession), and nary a P-90 in the lot.
Never played a P-90 guitar.

Re: P90--the bacon of the pickup world
You need to find an try one Brian & Sgt mate..
Love Humbuckers but i'll take P90 over a humbucker any day..
Can be in your face with the cut but turn off the volume or tweak the tone pot an it's pure sweetness...
Think big fat woody tone with bite......

Review of Some Popular Humbucker Sized P90's--Bacon for Everyone!
In the spirit of helping those of you still sitting on the fence about bac-, er, P90's, and especially those who would like to try 'em but have humbucker equipped guitars, I just came across this review of some of the more popular humbucker sized P90's.
Included, I'm happy to see, is my favourite GFS Mean 90 which has been recommended here before. It isn't an exhaustive review but it does include extensive recorded samples which are quite helpful.
Enjoy!!

Re: P90--the bacon of the pickup world
I loved my little Arbiter so much, I decided to make another one and just to show the kind of butchery of which I am capable, I took a nearly new Hamer XT. I stripped off all of the Cherry Red poly finish, reshaped the cut outs slightly, added mahogany wings to the headstock, repositioned the tuners and cut off one fret and a little of the fretboard from the top of the neck. It had a tuneomatic and stop tail, so I removed these and replaced with a Badass style bridge. I then gave it a very thin coat of yellow over its mahogany body and neck and added a logo.
The real one is on the right and the fake is on the left.
Then, as luck would have it, another turned up and I had to buy it. It is new old stock and is virtually immaculate

Re: P90--the bacon of the pickup world
It gave me something to do Grogg and I prefer a thin finish for resonance. On a Junior, I also prefer a single bridge arrangement over a tuneomatic/stop tail arrangement.
I got the Hamer very cheaply and it came with a new faux crocodile case so the starting point was not expensive.
Hoax
PS the Hamer was butt ugly
