I used to too...still do, kinda. They're annoying more than musical.Sgt. Vimes wrote:...I HATE tremelos...
But just clamp 'er down! Did that for years on my ST that I played for years in the band. I only finally liberated her a while ago. Still don't use it much.

Re: WANTED: Spectrum S
Yeah I used to own a Chinese Mc2 brand! musicman EVH copy which had a floating trem, had to block that as the damned thing just would not behave, still fancy a pure breed hardtail though! I expect the spectrum s would be rather rare? therefore pricey?

Try these, there's plenty around. If you keep your peeps open.
Much better, as the Speccy S was a cheapo model. Crap pups.

These things sing. Washburn Force 2.

Re: WANTED: Spectrum S
Cannot stand EMG's. But the so-called UBC's in the S are weak as hell. Stuff in some MMK45's however and you're golden!

Had to bite the bullet today and "clamp 'er down!" Im just plain sick of EB regular slinky 1st string unwinding at the ball, Ive gone through 3 so far, and 2 5th strings just trying, and failing, to get it balanced
I gave the Carbonite fretboard a going over with the micro mesh, managed to remove so much yellow/green ground-in scum, gotta say it looks and feels beautiful.
I walked past the guitar shop today and saw a new honey flamed PRS, which this washburn is a copy of, and it was sporting a lovely set of zebra pups.......these EMG Selects have to go, so I'm thinking of the warman zebra as used by The Tygers of Pan Tang no less! ( cheesy british metalers)

so do you guys recommend another brand of zebra pup?

Re: WANTED: Spectrum S
I tried a Bareknuckle Riff Raff which was awesome; absolutely fabulous. It was also, however, bloody expensive....
Hey, there's lots of EMGs out there; they must be good?! :-)
And the pups in the S and others aren't really all that bad; they're not 45s, but they're not supposed to be! They do lack some grunt, I have to say, but a little EQ, a little overdrive and who's gonna know the difference??
We're lucky enough to have some very fine pups in our favoured instruments, and most here will have played Gibsons and Fenders and Rickenbackers yadda yadda yadda, but to compare one to another is a little futile as the whole damn thing is subjective, yes?!
I quite like the pups in my SP1012..... in fact, it was becoming the " go to" guitar because it wasn't overpowering and would take whatever FX I threw at without becoming muddy and weird....

£400 for a pair of riff raff zebras is a little out of my league just now, and even if I could afford it I would NEVER pay that much for a pair of pups, and as you say "little EQ, a little overdrive and who's gonna know the difference??"

Re: WANTED: Spectrum S
Bugger eh? If you like EB's have you tried their RPS version? (Reinforced Plain Strings). Might solve the breakage problem for you. Sell a lot of 'em to the shredder kids!Sgt. Don't know that brand at all. But I can always recommend GFS with confidence....I'm thinking of the warman zebra as used by The Tygers of Pan Tang no less! ( cheesy british metalers)...so do you guys recommend another brand of zebra pup?
I sometimes toy with the idea of replacing the UBC's in my S with zebra's. Whatcherthink?:
White Spectrum S

Re: WANTED: Spectrum S
I had a look in every guitar shop in town, none sell the RPS version, so I just went back to the Roto 10's I always used to use, I didnt fancy soldering the wind on the EB, just doesnt seem right!
also I cant find any GFS zebras in the UK, I'm on a tight budget and dont fancy extra shipping and inport duties.
I really do love the Warman Propaganda single coils I bought for my ply strat especially @ £10 a set ;-) and The Tygers of Pan Tang use his Zebras, I dunno what their amps and effects are but I quite like their sound....so far Warman are leading the race....

White Spectrum S
damn thats a fine guitar, i LOVE the white with black hardware.....If you were to go with zebras, I should think black with white rather than aged white/cream just to keep the theme intact.
can I just say again........DAMN fine guitar!

That's all down to the owner's savvy and pro-activeness.
