Thunder 1A bass Empty Thunder 1A bass

Post by BarrytheSpoon Fri Apr 06, 2012 1:26 pm

New member alert!!!

Have in my possession a Thunder 1A bass that I adore to play, unfortunately time has taken it's toll on this lovely instrument and it now needs some replacement parts Sad

These are the parts I feel need replacing:

Entire Bridge
All 3 knobs
All 3 pots
Jack Socket

I know the jack socket is the easiest bit, and I will be replacing that shortly, also the knobs aren't hard to do (as long as I don't want originals!!!)
but with regard to the electrics, I am comfortable with a soldering iron, but don't know where to start to get the correct parts, does anyone do a complete wiring kit? (I don't mind losing the active-ness, passive is fine for me)
Also as stated, the bridge needs replacing, where can I get a suitable replacement? (that ships to UK)

Any further help would be most appreciated.

Good quality bridge. They do chrome and black as well.

pots are available at the above seller.I'd keep the centre detent pot(active tone) if it's any good.

And Welcome here.

Welcome to you. Give us a few pics of the old rascal when you can.

Very glad that your handle is in the order it is.

You'd have no idea the grief you'd bring on yourself were it reversed... lol!

Hi Barry and welcome to you.

Westbone has already directed you to most everything you need, except the brass knobs.
You can find info on them HERE

Hi - those bridges are good. I fitted a black one to my Thunder Jet bass and it has done the business. I bought a Gotoh 201, which these resemble, for a Fender bass and, to be honest, it wasn't worth the difference.

I wonder if you might be lucky enough to find a 'doer-up-er' on eBay that has a bad body. Or sometimes fretless models don't fetch much - under £100. Take what you need and sell off the rest.

I got a T1 bass body with all those bits fitted for about £40 - see thread below this. So if you can wait might be worth hanging on until another comes up.

...not much at all one wonders with that listing description. Unless another project minded buyer chances upon it.
