Could this ?:

Be turned into this?

I'm not bidding any higher on this one, but if I don't get it, I will still be looking for a cheap Spectrum body for that project. If I do get it, then stay tuned eh

Don't see why not, though you'll have to get a neck built specially for it, and wouldn't it be nice to know if the electronics were standard or custom!?!
Fill the middle pickup cavity and the trem/bridge cavity and the jobs a good 'un!

Maybe Arlene could ask the man himself about it??

I'd be making the neck myself, moving the jack, filling the trem, making the PUP mods and all the other stuff myself - a new challenge. Basically I wouldn't be making the body Smile

Sounds like fun eh - And if Arlene knows the man, maybe I could get his phone number for specifics Smile

I would not be surprised in the least if she could help in some way. She seems just as much interested in Mr. Rabin's craft and art as any of us and much more so than many of us.

Of course it will not have a Westone bridge, but maybe some nice repro knobs if they become available for sale - My big challenge is trying to create the headstock design from a picture - it doesn't look quite like a Vantage, and not like the 5 string Pantera Bass I have, so I will have to try and make it as close as I can from the photo. I'm in no hurry on this one, and will wait for the cheap spectrum to start with, but we'll see.

That's what I'm thinking. Fix her. Play her, as a 6 string. Unless of course yer a masochist Pat. What a Face

I may fix it first (for practice). But I really like the white 12 - and I want to take a stab a making a neck.
I ordered some alder for my first build from scratch so that project may come first, but always looking to work on some interesting projects.

actually you are correct, they do not need to be filled. Just the trem cavity - anyone got a spare chunk of 30 year old scrap hard maple lying around?

That pickup cavity comment was my fault; I wrote and posted in haste!

Doesn't matter what the cavity is filled with; it's gonna be painted, eh, and my one should be white too, please!! Laughing

Yeah, perhaps you can model it on the Thunder Headstock they do look similar. Just give 'er a swift sharp yank and s-t-r-e-t-c-h 'er out! affraid

A bit wider closer to the nut that the thunder, but basically the same type of shape. It will be some work, but could be cool. Maybe I'll just buy Trevors.

Or just be creative and do your own thing along the same lines. I guess the originals were all hand made and different so ...
