Need a lefty Empty Need a lefty

Post by PhilMug Fri Feb 17, 2012 6:52 pm

Hi there, I'm in the market for a left handed Westone, any model. I have a Concord II-T and I love it to bits, which is why I dont want to screw around with swapping the nut over and re-stringing it.
If anyone has an unloved lefty or a righty I could swap over as I can't afford a mint one (just got outbid for an ubercheap Thunder on ebay *sadface)

Thanks for any help you can give me.

It may sound scary to take the nut off and flip it - it really is not a big deal. Take the strings off, put some tape on the ends of your pliers and pull it off gently. Scrape away the old glue, use some decent wood glue (I'm not super experienced, but works for me) not a lot, just enough to cover the surface, clamp it down for the night and you are done. Cheap & you are all set in 1 day eh

Currently on ebay...
Sumpthin' like-a deese??

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Westone-Electra-X185-Spectrum-LX-guitar-LEFT-HANDED-/300665776421?pt=Guitar&hash=item460113a925

Almost synchronicity but I was down in the Cities tonight at my luthier and a guy walked in looking for an estimate on a refret. When my luth asked what type of guit he said Westone Spectrum MX and quickly added "I'm sure you've never heard of one." The two of us busted out laughing and my wife proceeded to nearly 1.) choked on then 2.) spit out her gum.

My luth assured him he knew all about Westones and could handle it. Then the guy asked if the guitar was worth a refret. When luth looked at me awaiting a reply the guy asked me if I owned the place. Between us we talked him into a fret dress instead as he didn't describe anything needing a refret.

Small world.

You say po-TAY-to and I say po-TAH-to, John. This "living vicariously thru others" phase is beginning to concern me. You really need to get reunited with your gear, bro. sunny

Have to admit though that "enabler" does roll off the tongue with less baggage there, Dr. Evil. Twisted Evil

I'm based in the south of England. I'm going to give myself a month to try and track down a Westone and after that I'm going to go shopping; my ideal budget is around £100

The very best of luck to you with your quest. You have chosen wisely, grasshopper...

The Thunder is a very worthy guitar to hunt down and for £100 you are setting a strenuous challenge for yourself. I'm not saying it cannot be done but that would be something of a hellacious bargain to get one for that little.

From what I have read as far as testimonials from owners easily twice that amount is what one should be worth as a starting price.

£100 for a thunder isnt out of the question, it wont be perfect though, and probably not a leftie.

Well, the Thunder 1a over here is about A$250, which is about 100 quid, and it IS a leftie and is all there and in good nick, albeit filthy!

However, the fly in this particular ointment would be shipping, though I daresay that the neck could be taken off to make an AustralianPost sized parcel?

I'm off to pick up a Dynasty tonight Smile
Is there anything specific to the Dynastys that I should look out for?
It looks like it's missing a locking nut and washer, but I can get that made by a mate.

I will post pictures when I get it home (to feed you peoples apparent addiction lol)

There's a LH thunder 1A currently on uk ebay, located in Stockton. Just listed as Left handed electric guitar so you need to search including description. £120 with no bids currently. Reasonable price for one that looks to be in pretty good shape.

Hope i've managed to put in a working link!
