What a shame. Sad It could be refinished but the finish is what makes these so COOL!

Yes it is my friend. As for the Spectrum, at least its all original right? lol! All the way down to the "rats nest" wiring. Now that was kinda nice to say.
Would be great for parts! You know thats an MMK in there.

MMK's are the bomb, really like 'em too. This poor thing has seen better days. I refurbed my friend's Dimension IV recently, and I thought that looked bad! It looks nice compared to this poor neglected MX. There's wear from playing, and then there's wear from NEGLECT!

Come to think of it I need to upload photos of that Dim IV, I'm proud of how that came out.. look for pics soon in the Member's Westone's section...

It would be a labour of love but one could still give her the kiss of life methinks.

I'd take it at 1/2 that price for the body for the Rabin 12 string project and give the rest away. I need a cheap cheap cheap spectrum body. anyone want to go in for halfs?

I can understand the sentiments about restoring it and mostly agree.

But in this case I would take Sarc up on his offer Chad. You need to get those EMG's out of your buddy's Dim IV and to have the rest of the correct period hardware available for another project, and a Spectrum neck...

I do not see the down side here.

I'm with ya Ice. I am not one to part out guitars and hate to see it done on evilbay or anywhere but its ok to use parts from a beater to finish off a nice Westone, right? I'd take you up on the offer Sarc but we're pretty low on money and the wife would KILL me. I'm outta cash so i can't hide stuff anymore either. Sad Sucks being a painter in the winter.][
Someone should split that w/ Sarc, would be worth it.

Well, I really am low as I've ever been on GAS fundage, but even I can scratch 60 bucks or so together as long as no other bids come in on this. Getting a twinge in the neck just thinking about it though.

If nobody else really wants to I'll go halvsies with you Sarc. But if anyone wants anything else off it and wants in please feel free to join the party.

There's only one humbucker in it, it wouldn't replace the EMGs in that Dim IV anyway. And unless you're using the trans blue finish it'd be wrong to part this out for a project, even in its current condition. Really wish I had a little spare cash, I really want one of these and a beater would be fine.

You are correct as usual Warrn, but I have several spare MMK45's already and would pair a couple up for Chad if he were so inclined to finish the resto on his friend's Dimension to a more original condition.

Don't you have a Frankenstien to finish that you won at ElectraFest, or had you gotten done with that?

Ice: I need a chunk of wood to fill in the trem route. Haven't found a good piece of hard wood. Don't really know where to look, and haven't had time recently since I've been playing with three bands over the last few months. And a blue MX or SX is just really high on my list because I LOVE the finish. And I don't own a Spectrum 6-string.

Sarc: No offense but I'm probably going to avoid the thread on this project like the plague. I think this emoticon sums up how it makes me feel pretty accurately: pale Good luck with it though. I will be curious to see the final product.

Scary to think of how easy it can be to quote someone out of context.

Speaking seriously now, what species are you looking for. A buddy of mine from my last employer is quite a woodworking hobbiest and I could get just about whatever you might be looking for.

Raw, rough blanked, kiln-dried and sanded... let me know.

I ain't in on this one. I'm not a fan of spectrums in anyway other than making the Rabin 12 string replica. This one is too pricey for me for that project. I need a REAL CHEAP body for that project if it ever comes to light. So if anyone has a throw away body I am in. Otherwise if I do choose to do that project I make the body On my own and would be down the line in planned projects.

So if anyone has a Spectrum body dirt cheap I will buy, otherwise I will make a copy about 3 or 4 projects down the road.

Got it, Sarc. I was confused by your earlier post asking if anyone wanted to go in for halfs.

Just so the rest of use are clear, what is your idea of a real cheap Spectrum body pricewise?
