Fixed up an old Hondo yesterday.
Picked this old Hondo the other day, it was in a pretty bad way.
Needed new tuners, bridge, tailpiece, nut etc, and the electrics were dodgy too.
Took a closer peek inside and it seems that those pickups are Dimarzios. Certainly huge output, and a very 80s tone to them.
So with stuff from the parts box, a new set of strings and a bit of setting up, looks like this now.
From what I have seen so far, this one is certainly Japanese made, and might even be one of the few Hondos made in Uncle Mats plant.
Nice chunkyish neck, solidly built, and with a really grungy, punky lairy tone from those hot pickups.
A nice little beater, and one that may live at my workplace for a while.

Nice man, i'm working on one myself. I've hyped Hondo quite a bit around here, they made some excellent guitars. I'm pretty sure thats a bolt on right? I've seen that style around and i like the wood look alot - looks like a clean score. They are alot of fun because i don't think they will ever be worth alot (not nearly what they should be worth!) so they're great beaters - no worries right?

Re: Fixed up an old Hondo yesterday.
Neck profile to my eye seems very Melody Maker-ish. Fair comparison Sollo?

Clicked on your resonator site yesterday Sollo http://www.sollophonicguitars.co.uk/index.php really impressed, always fancied a resonator, perhaps if I stopped buying Westies you'd have a customer.
Like the cute black number

Great work with the Hondo, Sollo and your resonators look the Dog's nuts. I admire your vision and attention to detail.
