No guitar for me, for a while anyway
Got me whole right arm in a cast, from shoulder to fingers.
I'm going half nuts because i can't play at all right now. I've been working on left hand technique, but i quickly lose interest due to mild depression! This stinks. Just sharing my misery.

What happened?... arm wrestling.... Know what it feels like, itchy.
Re: No guitar for me, for a while anyway
Crap!
Shades of dear old Les Paul! But at least he could move his shoulder and most of his fingers.
What a pain (literally I'm guessing).
Sorry to hear it Chad, my old trout. Hang in there!

Re: No guitar for me, for a while anyway
It's mostly just irritating, but also quite itchy and painful.
Here's what happened...
I rent out a roller rink the last Friday of each month for youth group kids to come have a good clean time with a live Christian band, we all skate about for 3 hours and have a blast. Well 3 Fridays ago, during one of these events, a girl skating the opposite direction skated into me head on. I grabbed her around the waist and fell with her to protect her, and we both landed on my right wrist. Bad move. It looked all funky and hurt like mad. Went to the Dr. that Monday, he x-ray'd me and said it was fine (what a dummy)! I knew it wasn't fine, so I scheduled a specialist appointment for the following week. And now I'm in a cast for a month, torn ligaments.
There are probably a couple of morals to this story.
And Barry, where did you get that crappy horse?

Ligaments and a month... not too bad, considering. Perhaps the girl is OK, too?

Re: No guitar for me, for a while anyway
They're MRI'ing me in a month to see how it's healing up, so I should have the full cast removed at that time!
The girl? She was fine, although highly embarrassed, because I landed laying directly on top of her! It's funny when I look back on it now.

That's what you get for making a grab at her.......
I,ve had torn tendons in my left shoulder for nearly a year now, doesn't seem to be getting much better neither.
Just thought I'd cheer you up

Shoulders are nasty. Too much to lever, with a comparatively shallow socket.

Re: No guitar for me, for a while anyway
It hurts like hell. ..can't play a guitar for longer than 10/15 minutes. Picking up a cup of tea feels like a ton weight.
Still, can't complain, suffer in silence. Cortisone injections help for a while.

Re: No guitar for me, for a while anyway
Tendons and ligaments are slow and painful to heal.
You're supposed to rest 'em but you need 'em to move yer muscles 'n bones, so whaddayaspozedtodo?
Can't remember exactly where I picked up the horse...but it does remind me of the story of the highly optimistic little girl who was spotted digging bare handed through a huge pile of manure and humming happily all the while. When asked why on Earth she was doing that she replied, "With all this crap, there just has to be a pony in here somewhere!"

That's awful man, you'd think there would be specialists to fix that sort of thing. The owner of the business I work for had 4 back surgeries so far, and his back is worse than ever. Can't put your trust in Dr.'s, that's for sure! But as long as we're living there's hope, that much is true.

Re: No guitar for me, for a while anyway
Not being able to play is really tough. I went through months of no play time after my injuries and surgeries. Keep focused and it will pass and then the play time will be on, on , on, and on. Good luck and hope it heals quickly.
