Re: Electrafest 2011 live stream link via Upstream is here
I dropped in a couple of times but not much was happening unfortunately (I even checked from work during a slow period!).
Looks like a lot of excellent gear in the room though; too bad I haven't been able to see much of it up close to date.
Oh I did see Warrn playing a bit o' bass on Saturday afternoon. Well done my man. And John, I noticed you were trying to get information on the "pointy blue guitar". Did you ever find out anything about it?

The pointy blue was an Aria Pro II ZZ which Mike ran through it's paces for us; very capable guitar and SO good looking!! I'm a sucker for a blueburst!!

Congratulations to our beloved moderator Corsair who won 1st alternate in the prize drawing from the online and absentee attendees. The grand prize was a very capable x135 won by Mike (pro endorser) and Warrn came in 3rd to claim a very mysterious Electra/Ibanez? hybrid.
Warrn did a nice job of representing for us who know him only on these forums and he was ON FIRE Sunday afternoon playing most everything while the rest were documenting most of Arthur's collection for a book I believe one of the Electra forumites is in the process of putting together.
Really an enjoyable 2 day event. Good to chat with you John during the online feed.

Glad I could keep you guys entertained some while Mike and Matt were out taking pictures! Barry I guess you just had bad luck with timing, Saturday was mostly jam packed save for dinner time and when we were packing up for the night. Glad my playing was worthy of a well done at least!
My personal hope is that, as closely related as Electra and Westone are, and as much as Westone and other Mats and SLM products were represented this year, we can perhaps expand Electrafest to include some of us here as well! We're certainly beginning to see a lot more member crossover, and I know I'd love to meet a Thunder (guitar or bass) in person! It's too bad Sarcaster couldn't bring his Panteras to the party, not to mention the Alvalectra X410!
Corsair was present in the chat to claim his prize, which was a volume pedal which... I honestly cannot remember the brand. I think someone said it was Italian? I dunno. My prize was a real weirdo. Guessed to be an Ibanez body with a PCM Electra neck, the headstock color matches the body, and the neck only has screw holes that match this body (they aren't a standard layout). No clue whether it's just a previously undocumented PCM Superstrat or what, but it's missing a bridge (though one was included as part of the package) and the neck needs shimmed quite badly. Oh, and for those who don't know, PCM is Pacific Coast Music (I think?), a sister company to the SLM we know and love. They too used the Electra brand name, but their instruments were almost solely copies and quality was hit or miss. I do love their goofy 60s mod-style Electra logo though!

Sorry I couldn't make it, but after the long drive from GA to Volusia FLA just 2 days before I couldn't make that drive there and back again all in the same week I did manage to check a bit of the live stream - I think there were 2 x185's being played at the same time. And wow, what an impressive wall of guitars that was - lots of good stuff.
I agree with Warn, it would be a good thing to see some of the Westies get together as well, although I can see some difficulties since a lot of members are located across a pond or two.

Glad to hear your up for it Barry. Minneapolis has to be somehow on your way to whatever points south we would hold it.... could I bum a ride??
Re: Electrafest 2011 live stream link via Upstream is here
Well, I had to pack everything into the cab of my pickup to where I had no extra room since the trip up was rainy, but if you had a van or station wagon or even just a large sedan, you could've just driven to me and I'd have added my stuff and been happy to drive from here! An idea for next time, I'm only up in Gainesville.sarcaster wrote:Sorry I couldn't make it, but after the long drive from GA to Volusia FLA just 2 days before I couldn't make that drive there and back again all in the same week

Re: Electrafest 2011 live stream link via Upstream is here
It was very nice to meet all in person and online via the web feed. I think we are all fans of the Japanese manufacturers and have much in common. I have Westone models also that I love and enjoy. I think it would be a good idea to also look at a joint event or seperate event for my fellow Westone lovers as well. What say ye fellow Westone players? If anyone is ever in the area of tifton, ga please feel free to contact me and drop in to sya hello and Jam and enjoy the day. I hope to aquire more westone models also as they are great instruments as well. I have the itch for one of those rail bass guitars now that I have seen and heard one and also like the quantum models also. Trying to keep my egas in check but after the great weekend we enjoyed I fear that I have lost the battle with egas. Here is an additional link to my photobucket with more great videos of the event that I recorded on my camera. Enjoy https://s975.photobucket.com/albums/ae233/mortarman120gang11c/Electrafest%202011%20videos/ Thanks mortarman120gang11c

Re: Electrafest 2011 live stream link via Upstream is here
Hello!.... you've caught something there.... the genesis of what I'm thinking is a capital idea.
Perhaps something along the lines of a SLM Jamfest? Or opening it up further and going for an Uncle Mats Mosh?
Well, I'm certain you gents can come up with something less cheesy sounding, but you get the picture.
More guitars, more participants, more of Warrn's awesome antics.... how can it go wrong??
