Mmm, creamy. Only 2-wire, no coil splitting.
Barry like, but not @ $50 each.

If it says 6.13k on the back then one of the coils is probably goosed.

Certainly seems that way Graham.
They corrode at solder joint of the windings. Easy fix, just resolder with great care.
Cheers, good health it's Teusday.

You have a good memory Damian. Indeed it is Tuesday and it is one of my getting pissed on cheap brandy nights!! So once again people ignore any late night posts from me this evening.

Re: ebay mmk 45
Haven't been around for a while but checked back in on a Tuesday night, freshly opened can of lunatic soup to hand (times is hard, can't even stretch to Lidl thinners!)... and I'm not the only one whose late-night ramblings should be ignored!!
I added another Spectrum to the collection a couple of weeks back; the all blue MX that was on ebay, if anyone else saw it. I took a chance, the seller's photos were phone jobbies and not one of my wiser buys. The neck-plate being upside down was a clue that all might not be well and I knew that one of the knobs had been swapped. Turns out that the push/ pull switch has been rewired although it plays OK. Another job for the winter, I'll pull it apart and see what lurks beneath.

Ah !!
It's my virtual brother who shares a taste for Lidl thinners mixed with Lidl Coke- a- like. I just bumped one of those blue Speccies about a month ago.
It was cosmetically OK, played like a dream with a fabulous neck, but i have come to the realisation that me and Strats just don't agree. I thought it was the scale 'cause I have small hands, but I love tele's to bits (same scale) and actually have a real nice hobby of building teles and selling them on the bay.
As Norfolk and I share 999.99% of genes, perhaps he can explain?

Re: ebay mmk 45
Hi Hoax, trust you are now sober after Tuesday night's thinners + coke excesses?
No ideas on your aversion to Strat-type guitars, I've got a Concord but the Spectrum just seems to "fit" better. Don't know why, the Spectrum SX was the first Westone I bought (£20 as seen, jack-socket missing, wires hanging out). Maybe its because I invested some time in sorting it out and played it more than the others.
Anyways, why is Tuesday night good for drinking? In my case it's my other half's evening out so I can turn the amp up a notch or two without grumbles. My noodlings improve (to me at least) after a couple of slurps of Lidl sanity-repellant.

Re: ebay mmk 45
Tuesday and Saturday are drinking nights for me for the following reasons;
1. Saturday night is for drinking
2. I like to break up the week by drinking another night. It used to be Wednesday but I couldn't wait so I put forward a motion to myself to change it to a Tuesday and the motion was carried by a substantial majority - well ..... one!!
Bet none of that makes sense and I am sober tonight.
I know what you are saying about having an affinity with a guitar that you have invested a lot of time in fixing up. Right now I have about 23 guitars but "my guitar" is a Vantage Ghost which I bought as a hand painted wreck and restored. My wife then knocked it off a table and broke the head stock off so I had to repair that and completely redo the headstock graphics. I do not think I could ever sell that one.
You know what - I never get a hangover with brandy and coke - excellent!!

Re: ebay mmk 45
Sitting next to me , as always, is a yamaha fg 75, old one.
It's been wrapped around my head, had it's neck broken and it's back,it's side split, it's a wonder it's still alive.
Repaired the beast, it's sounds 'kingtastic.Did before. Never let it go. Great action.
It's just one of those guitars that just about everyone has a good strum for and are seriously amazed.
It's beer stained, wine, just about the lot...still goin'
Here's a couple of shots.
It's small bodied, with a big sound.
If you spy one on ebay, well worth a punt.
Made in Taiwan Peoples Republic of China 1970's

Re: ebay mmk 45
Good Lord man! What did you do, use her for batting practice?!
Amazing that she still makes any kind of noise at all, never mind a guitar-like one.

Now THAT is relic!!! You need to send a pic of that to Webster's to have it put up next to the definition.
