Westome '81 Rainbow I Matsumoku one off factory finish! - £0.01 Current Bid (Reserve Not Met)

Not sure if the finish is original but it comes with an interesting story? Suspect

(BTW this was listed under Westome Rolling Eyes )

Wow!! Just look at that book-matching detail!
And the drawing is tastefully done too. Looks authentically Japanese to my untrained eye.
What a beauty.

Yeah well, bowenjaybe, I asked if the design was under the lacquer or on top, he came back with “The decoration is over the lacquer, we think” he also said “Obviously its not new but its been played and much loved” That being the case I doubt the design is original, as with its facility the factory would almost certainly lacquered over it & if not the right forearm should have worn part of it off after all this time. Wonder how much more than £400.00 he expects to get for it scratch confused

Those particular Rainbow models are not worth the starting price they're asking, in my opinion.
Just another 355 clone.
The swiftlock tailpiece models, even being a clone have their own originality ie. When they break you can't get a new one.
The woods on the later type also is birdseye maple, much nicer than the ash.

The Rainbow has appeared again and he mentions these forums Smile . Personally I can't see those flowers as a selling point and I would prefer it if they weren't there.
