Westone Spares
OK, gang... this is for all Westone owners and especially for those of you with Bendmaster Deluxe and FT trems, I would suggest you hustle over to Spares and place your orders... it's closing for good come 5 April...

Re: Westone Spares
If I may be so bold, perhaps a temporary "sticky" is in order in the wanted section?
Re: Westone Spares
Iceman, when are we going to see your Concord? (which is also a cheap English wine)
Lets see some good shots.

Re: Westone Spares
I will attempt to do so today in the members section. Putting them here doesn't seem appropriate.

Re: Westone Spares
I didn't realize he had all of that! Looks like someone got the black knobs already, bummer. I'd have like those for spares.

Re: Westone Spares
Is it still UK orders only? I could use some spare Rail parts just in case.

Re: Westone Spares
Nope, he's sending me some parts and I'm in the States. Shipping isn't bad at all, it's 4pounds for shipping to the States (which is about $6.50 or so).
Order now, he said he's going to sell what he can and scrap the rest! Sounds like he's got a bunch left. I ordered string lock triangle thingies and he said he has 363 or them or something like that.

Re: Westone Spares
I was hoping for one of each headless bass part, but he's already out of the knobs. Not too big of a deal though, I don't technically need anything except maybe the actual steel bolt. But, you know, good to have the spares just in case!

Re: Westone Spares
Got my parts Saturday, talk about quick shipping. From the UK to the States, in less time than it takes for my domestic EvilBay shipments to arrive. Hurry up ya'll, the spares store is closing soon!
I had gotten string locks, a whammy, and a bridge plate.

Re: Westone Spares
Yeah; he doesn't muck around, does he! Be sorry to see this resource go, but I guess it just wasn't economic to do it and I'm pretty sure he outlaid a fair amount of capital to get things like the lock washers made...
Amongst other things, I got a set of the brass knobs that he had marked as seconds, and I'm buggered if I can see anything wrong with them...

Re: Westone Spares
Ordered a bunch of Rail bass parts, so I'm the reason a few of those bits are now sold out. Not that they'd be available after tomorrow anyway. Also getting a Thunder bass circuit board, since I bet it's the same as the one in my Electra Phoenix... or, at least, is close enough.

Re: Westone Spares
Alrighty then, i went ahead and ordered some parts for my Bendmaster just to have some spares. They are great to have, plus i figured if he put so much time into these we should do our best to snag em up! Damn i wish he still had some knobs.

That's what I did, anticipating future guitars that will probably need them!
And I'm right there with you on the knobs...

Re: Westone Spares
Just recieved my Westie spare parts today. They are great and i'm thankful for the work involved to make them. I guess the whole westone.info mess will clear up soon, so i can't be mad at him anymore. I must say, i ordered 6 locking nut screws for each of the 2 Bendmasters, and he gave me about 20 of each instead of 6. Super cool of him. So if anyone needs some spare screws for a Bendmaster Deluxe or Bendmaster FT gimme a hollar!

Re: Westone Spares
I agree. David has always been a fantastic guy with me and has always been patient and kind when I lacked knowledge (which is very often) and tried to order a wrong part. He simply sent me an email and sent the correct part. You can please some of them some of the time, but you can't please all of them all of the time.
Re: Westone Spares
Yep.. me too.... quick service and top quality bits; no question, and early on, he was indeed quite the fount of information.

Re: Westone Spares
Question about the replacement knobs he sold - They looked spot on, but were they made of metal? My 350 has metal knobs, and my 390 has plastic (but exactly the same shape and dimensions) so I was wondering if maybe they ones on the 390 had come from the spares site at some point in the past.

Re: Westone Spares
I cannot confirm at this moment, as the data is no longer available, and I didn't order any, but all the other spares that I did investigate were engineered from metal and I am pretty certain that the listed stated that they were metal.
Others here, I am sure, will be able to confirm. That said, the spares service is now, no longer, a going concern, as much because the take up of orders was not close to the interest stated, meaning the investment made to generate the items did not give enough of a return to make it worthwhile.

Re: Westone Spares
The replacement Switchmaster tapered knobs are a synthetic of some sort and I have to say, very good indeed; I bought some OEM ones from Germany and unless you can see where the grubb screw is on the replacements, you wouldn't know the difference.
The brass ones were brass; I've offered the set I bought to a friend in Australia who needs some for a Vantage VA900 and the only ones he could find were ones at US$45.00 the set of three, and the ones I got from David, though he classed them as seconds!, are primo quality.

Re: Westone Spares
" Matsumoku made the first ones out of zinc - added about 30 pounds to the guitar:) Too heavy - so the later ones were aluminium and later I had enough produciton to tool them in plastic. They never really caught on in the market place but I thought that they were absolutely fantastic! "
A quote from Tom Presley in the history thread reffering to switchmaster knobs. I hope this helps Sarcaster. I wondered the same thing, as my Concord has metal knobs and my FX has plastic ones. It seems both came from the factory so i'm sure the plastic ones on your 390 are stock.

Either by using the image loader that is on here, or by uploading your pix to an online photo server, and then copying and pasting the image codes you're then given into your posts here.
