Not on looks, as I love them both, but playability & sound ect.
Which one wins?
Cheers,
Richie.

Re: PANTERA vs SPECTRUM...
Spectrums have a strat-like neck profile and 22 frets.
Panteras, at least X-300, X-350, and X-390 have a totally different neck profile. The fingerboard is wide and flat, the frets are enormous and there are 24 of them, and the neck profile fills the hand. These Panteras are shredders. The neck profile reduces hand fatigue and is very comfortable. The Jackson/Charvel skinny necks are fast but my hand fatigues/cramps quickly on them but not on the Panteras. The only thing I don't like about 24 fret necks is that because of the re-location of the neck pickup farther back, the tone is not the same as on a 21 or 22 fret neck. The rounded vowel sounds that we expect from the neck pickup are not quite there on a 24 fret neck.

Re: PANTERA vs SPECTRUM...
somewhere on YouTube there's an interview with Trevor Rabin of YES praising the Pantera - if i recall it was mainly "the totally linear response all the way up the neck" vs Fender Strats - no bright areas - very predictable vol and tone - obv why he wanted Signature Models made - [met him backstage in Edmonton Alberta Canada at the filming of "9012-Live" - i'm the guy in the white jean jacket as the credits roll at the end of Starship Trooper]

Re: PANTERA vs SPECTRUM...
Hmmmm... I've got an X300 and a Genesis II - which are the same basic shape - and the Gen II has a flatter neck than the X300. The Pantera neck would be closer in profile to a Spectrum, I reckon, but this doesn't mean an awful lot; I have 6 Spectrum/Phoenixes as well and love'em all!! The Spectrums had an absolutely huge range of models with something for everyone, eh!!
