Serial #s and an odd discovery

Hello All...Ya know, a lot of us probably really don't pay attention to the serial #s on our instruments. And we should. Even if it means simply jotting them down on a piece of paper and hiding it in your sock drawer for some sort of future reference. Anyway... I was doing just that, about 10 minutes ago, and realized I have a black Dimension IV of which the serial # starts with the number 4. So now I am thinking this guitar may have been made and possibly marketed in 1984. If this is true... this bumps the availability (of the Dimension IV) back another year, 1984 instead of 1985. Just wanted to share this with you... Steve.

That would indicate a build year of 1984, yes. The second and third digits refer to the month. Was it late 84? I didn't think the Dim IV was ever marketed as an Electra, but a 1984 build doesn't surprise me either.

Good guess Warrn. The next two digits are "11" indicating November. So, yes it most likely was built late in the year.
