Re: Spectrum LX for sale UK
Apologies for splitting hairs etc., but in your advert you mention how "rare" Westones are now days. How are they rare, there seem to be quite a few Westones on ebay at any time?
It's just that I've seen a lot of ebay listings, e.g. for Thunder 1A guitars that use the "rare" word. Given that you're posting here, I thought this a good opportunity to give a seller the chance to give her side of the story.

Re: Spectrum LX for sale UK
Well, 'rare' it's a relative term, sure if you search for 'westone' on ebay you get 20 or 30, but how many would you get for Fender?
Also I figured someone might buy it for parts as these are quite rare, I know i've tried to get them to make this guitar perfect again.
Also how many LXs can you find?
I intend to buy another one when I can I wonder how quickly i'll be able to find one?

Re: Spectrum LX for sale UK
That's fair enough. Over on the Matsumoku forum there's a discussion ongoing concerning the meaning of the word "rare" as concerns guitars. One person on that forum said of a particular model of guitar, there were only ever 48 of them made, and this qualifies them as rare. For my own personal definition of rare, which I don't claim is the definitive one, I'd class something that comes up on ebay say once every six months or less as rare.
Thanks for answering my only vaguely relevant question

Re: Spectrum LX for sale UK
Good luck with the sale, Joss - I think that broken string retainer may mean a slightly lower price than I'd expect to see from an LX, but I hope not!! I do know if I didn't already have an H/S/H Spectrum,I'd bite your arm off!!
The word "rare" is overused and undervalued on the auction sites; I'd certainly class the LX as desirable and unusual but not rare; it is, after all, nearly the top of the range of the Spectrums - only the set-neck of the FX sets it a little higher on the totem pole - but you do have to remember that for Matsumoku, these were the bread and butter guitars; the Panteras and Prestige i would imagine would not have been built in anything like the numbers that the Spectrums and Thunders were...

Re: Spectrum LX for sale UK
Would a Blue Spectrum MX be classed as rare? I've only seen one MX for sale anywhere on the internet in the last 6 months. It was a blue one in Ebay US a few months ago, but that was it. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
Good luck with the LX, I like the black.

Re: Spectrum LX for sale UK
You know, I think I've seen 3 blue ones, 2 red ones and there's currently 2 or 3 black ones - MX and SX - on various auction sites of late; they are definately a little more unusual than the ST's but by the same token, when was the last time you saw an FX, or a GT??
edit; FX on eBay now!!!
