Pantera X300 MIJ or MIK?
Hi all,
i know a Pantera X300 for sale, in red, with volume AND tone knob. The westone.info site says the later ones were made in Korea? Where does it say "Made in Japan" if it's a Mat guitar?

Re: Pantera X300 MIJ or MIK?
My X300 says Matsumoku and has the serial on the neck plate. I owned two X300 at one time and both had it on the neck plate but they were the single knob models. Polly has one with tone and volume like the one you are looking at and someone else on here does also but I can't remember who. Polly would be the best to ask but I suspect the neck plate is the place to look on the X300, send Polly a PM and good luck with the purchase.

I'd be willing to bet that's a Matsumoku guitar. I bet it has the black neck plate that says as much. The pickups, trem, Pantera body logo, and cupcake knobs are a pretty good indication that it is a Mat. As far as I know only the Rabin Panteras were SLM Korean. I believe all Pantera X300 were Mat made.

99% chance it's a Matsumoku. If it's Korean, it was built with leftover Matsumoku parts.

Possibly assembled in Korea with parts made in Japan.
If these came through the SLM guitar shop for set-up (and I bet they did), there will be no quality differences between those that were made/assembled in Japan and those that were MIJ but assembled in Korea.

Re: Pantera X300 MIJ or MIK?
hi,
my x300 also has a tone knob, the s/n is indeed on the neckplate...
the s/n on mine starts with 611......and i'ne never seen any pantera that was built later than 86 (also if westone.info sais that they were manufactured until 88), so i'm quite sure that also this pantera is a mat.

Not beyond the realms of possibility; I'm reasonably convinced that my CL4112's were Korean assembled from Japanese parts, if not MIJ...
