we have a contest going now on who can learn a song the fastest. We are giving each other 2 weeks to learn a song picked by one of us, then we shall duke it out. afterwards the other shall pick a song. he picked "wherever i may roam" by metallica. I was wanting suggestions for my pick in 2 weeks from now. Smile He will be learning the bass line and i will be learning the Guitar to it.

Please nothing too challenging as we are still both beginners, but any fun suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey - I half learned that tune long ago... (seemed to have a lot of half-done thigs dating from my youth...) Including as it happens my first proper concert (ie in the big town, went with pal rather than parents..) .. which was Focus at the Liverpool Empire in 1975 or 6 or so....

Missed the end/encore because we'd had to catch the last train home.. I'm pretty sure they'd played Sylvia by then though....

Perhaps I should learn the rest of the tune now...!!!

I have enough trouble with 'spirit of Radio'!! Laughing Oddly enough the songs I always had trouble working out chord patterns to were the ones written in major 7ths; they sound easy but for some reason I have god's own trouble picking up a CM7 etc!! Very Happy confused

How you doing mate,

Try Heartbreaker- Led Zeppelin.

A lot of older guitarists had to learn by ear, listening to the record on vinyl and picking out the notes and so on. Its great now as you can watch DVDs and download tabs. I have relearnt loads of tracks that I couldnt figure out including Heartbreaker!

If you want Heartbreaker on DVD, I'll send you a copy.

Best Wishes
