Looks really similar to my pre law suit YAMATO.
Which I have to admit is really fine instrument.
The starting price is quite high, hope it doesn't rise much.

Are you sure about that? I think on the neckplate there is written "steel adjustable neck, made in japan" (to be sure I asked the seller, I'll post his answer asap). The logo on the headstock is also the same like the one on uncle Matt's acoustic guitars. It looks quite like these: link

At first look I would believe it's a fake logo on a Yamato or so , but I'm not sure.

Uh, I thought early Westones were a Matsumoku project? What is there that would raise suspicion of it being from another builder?

Since no law suit headstock, the serial would make it a 1980 since from 1976 and up the serials were relevant to the year of built. Would this not be part of any Westone Catalogue for 1980 or 1981?

Looks an awful lot like the El Degas branded LP's we saw a lot of in Canada in the mid to late 70's which I'm pretty much convinced were Mats.
