Raider I (CAN)
Hey if ya love a pointy this one's for you, um, if you don't mind putting in a some potential resto work.
Overall, the body appears to be in good condition aside from dirt, but the pictures are not very clear. The main question is, what is going on with the back of the neck? Black paint poorly applied raises suspicions of a possible broken neck repair.
Of course the locking plates are missing and the owner has installed a string retaining bar which is not a suitable replacement but better than nothing I guess. Original pickup has been replaced but no indication as to what it is. I'm assuming it's a hotter one.
On the plus side, it comes with a custom branded OHSC, a very big plus for this body shape.
It also comes with what shows in the picture as a Traynor amplifier. Traynor is a Canadian brand and if this is a vintage era build it will be very good and possibly a collector's item. No information is given about it.
The seller refers to the amp as a "speaker" and says the guitar needs a "bit of a tune up" which might indicate that he doesn't have a lot of guitar knowledge.
The asking price however...
CAD$850 (but open to negotiation)

These never had had a stringlock, so that, like the pickup, is a modification…
Pretty strong money for a modded oddball guitar?!

Re: Raider I (CAN)
Yeah, even when you allow for the the amplifier and the case in particular ($250'sh?) it's still too high methinks.
And don't forget that black paint on the back of the neck. Who knows what's going on there?

The string retaining bar is standard, it's the locking business that's a retrofit, also the toggle by the volume control - presumably a coil split. But that money and that neck, nah.Barry wrote:

If you mean the black area near the body, that's part of the paint job. The neck and body are painted two-tone separately.

This is true - it looks a bit odd though - might just be a badly lit photo but for reference:NeilH wrote:Barry wrote:And don't forget that black paint on the back of the neck. Who knows what's going on there?
