Anybody have any idea what this might be? It’s being sold locally to me. My guess is early to mid 1970s and possibly manufactured in Japan? I thought somebody here might know definitively.

Looks like I can answer my own question after finding a YT video that shows this as being a Japanese built guitar made for Kay/UNIVOX in the 70s. Seems more like a toy to me than a practical guitar, and nowhere near worth the seller’s $380 asking price, especially since he says the effects aren’t working. If anybody has had any experience with these guitars, either good or bad, I’d like to hear what you have to say!

I have the guitar that this is loosely based on, which is the Gibson Les Paul Recording. It has the same shape pickguard and plastic control plate. The pickups are completely different; mine are low impedance. The electrics are also different; no effects in mine but it has a 'decade' switch which allows you to emulate the sound of other guitars.
I expect that the build quality of yours will be quite acceptable (apart from the built-in effects!).

Thanks, David. It's definitely an interesting model. Still, I think I'm going to pass on it.
