Westone Prestige 150 for sale on Reverb
Hey folks,
Ive decided to sell my Prestige 150 and I have listed it on Reverb for now. However I would love it to go to a true Westone fan that really appreciates the guitars and their history. I have owned this guitar since 2001. I'll be happy to sell it to someone on this forum at a much better price than is listed on my Reverb and if anyone is interested please pM me and we can talk. Many thanks, Mark

Hey Mark, Were you responsible for replacing the original stop tail?
If so, can you provide more details please?
As you are likely aware, that original piece of hardware although beautiful to look at, has turned out to be a mechanical design failure and many Prestige and Rainbow owners have been unable to replace it. It's sad to know that these instruments are just sitting there broken and not being played.
Short of custom machining a new one out of brass, to date there hasn't been a definitive off-the-shelf replacement, so if you can shed some light on this it would be a great benefit to many forum members!

I did replace the tailpiece yes, just last year. Like so many others here the original tailpiece broke on me and i was unable to have it repaired. The Prestige sat unused as a result for a few years. However recently i was working at a local guitar company, Emerald Guitars (they manufacture high end carbon fibre instruments here in Ireland) and i got friendly with the cnc guy who did me up a replacement tailpiece from carbon offcuts. Its a perfect replacement and fitted to measure. And as Im sure you know carbon is extremely strong and will last a lifetime.
I did ask on this forum a few times about where to find a replacement tailpiece and like so many others here struggled to get someone to make me one locally so it was just good luck I was at Emerald for a while and he made me one to fit. Thats the story of my replacement tailpiece anyways. I think it looks really great on the guitar at the moment and Im just so glad I was able to get it stringed up again and rocking! Its a superb guitar, Id forgotten just how well it played and those pickups are awesome. I hesitated about selling it once I got it playing again but Ive too many guitars and its not getting the use anymore and I hate to see such a fine guitar not getting played.
Im not sure if it would be possible to get more of these tailpieces made, it was a once off favour he did for me, however I may ask if he would be able to do maybe a dozen more or so in his spare time if he didnt mind. Its not a money issue for him, its whether he would be able to do it with company resources.

Thanks for the info Mark. It seems like this stop tail part is destined to be eternally jinxed!
Except in one recent instance, all the repairs we know of have been custom machined efforts.
Forum member Gittarasurus recently posted info on his Prestige model which he acquired with a replacement branded Ibanez part, plus a slight modification to the anchor points.
Despite his great efforts however, he has not been able to track down the actual part which doesn't have a part number on it.
So, on it goes. . .

Prestige has sold.. Its seems there is great demand for these beautiful guitars. I had lots of interest in it. Sad to see it go but hopefully it will get more use than I had been giving it lately.
