Lefty 1981 Thunder 2 with XLR output jack
Hi Guy n Gals,
I recently picked up the most beautiful bass guitar and in my efforts to research I came across this forum.
The guitar in question is a 1981 Thunder 2 Lefty with XLR output jack.
It says in writing on the westone.info website re thunder 2 ‘I have seen one other 1981 thunder 2 with XLR’ - with this in mind mine being a lefty must make it a super rare beast??!!
I spent a few hours with this guitar giving her a minor strip down and deep clean. The time I’ve spent with her I’ve fallen in love - the quality, the look, the feel - she’s just amazing!
Unfortunately I’m neither left handed or a bass player so I will have to move her on a some point - BUT I want to keep her forever.
I’ve included a pic below.
As you will see she’s missing a truss rod cover and two of the switches aren’t original - do you know anyone/anywhere I could possibly pick up new old stock or second hand bits?
Any thoughts or feedback would be greatly received.

Reverb and Ebay sometimes have the cover. The latter is usually the cheaper option (Reverb IMHO generally is a bit over-priced). Those flatter-type switches seem harder to find, but maybe they might pop up on either site.

You can find the mini-toggle switches at many places online including this one: LINK
You are looking for a double-pole double-throw with a flat (paddle) handle

These basses are killer, same quality as high end Aria SB basses. I know cause I have both! Try to find a lefty who own a righthanded thinder II and swap!
