Westone Strat Copies?
Thanks for this great forum & letting me join.
I have a Westone that is almost an exact Stratocaster copy except for the headstock which has the same shape and logo as the pointy version of Westones.
Does anyone know the years these strat copies were made and by whom? In Korea?

Re: Westone Strat Copies?
The 1980's Westone designs were proprietary and many of them innovative and completely unique. They did not replicate the "classic" designs.
Without a picture of your guitar I can only make a guess that it is one of the models of the German company Musik Meyer. Likely made in China in the 90's.

@Barry, please click my profile tab, then scroll down to my "website" on my profile. I also uploaded it to my Avatar.
The serial number is on the metal neck plate: 88 10 0334 so can we assume this was made in Korea in 1988?

Re: Westone Strat Copies?
(The logo is not the only thing different on the Musik Meyer model, the head stock is completely different)Westone wrote:...Mine has the same logo and headstock as the MIJ Uncle Matt's Westones. The German logo is significantly different.
I don't know enough about the post Mats builds to be of much help but maybe one of the members has more info Pete? Mike?
Seems to me there are a few possibilities:
1. This is indeed a later MM model version and they changed the head stock to a "pointy" (not likely);
2. This is an early "hybrid" MIK build consisting of surplus Mats necks plus newly fabricated bodies, etc
3. This is a later reduced version before the brand disappeared.
The 1988 UK catalogue shows a model or two which may have served as the template for yours.
Have a look at the SP3112: LINK

Re: Westone Strat Copies?
Looks like you have a Challenger WE3400 MIK.
Would say the knobs have been changed.

A simple link is all that's needed, Thanks.
