Guitar Appraisals
I was playing my Westie pink x300 today for a bit and as I was putting it up I decided to check my museum piece that I haven't checked in a while. I opened up the case to see my baby.....1986 Pantera X390 pearl white ….actually now has turned to Ivory. I call it museum because the guitar has never been really played by anyone except me. Everything on the guitar stills looks brand new front and back except for the change of color on the finish. My wife said to keep it in the case because it's an investment. I acquired it from California where it sat in the music store since 1986. Anyway back to the story. I decided test the waters and get a guitar appraisal on it. I filled a online form and sent it back with pictures. The response I got back was shocking. We at the forum family know the value of our Matsumoku treasures. The person who responded back stated that my guitar was only worth $300 to $400 on the internet. I politely told him that evidently didn't know about westones if he had to check the values on the net and thanked him for the response. That's what you get for a free appraisal.
Re: Guitar Appraisals
Ha! Yeah... nah, mate!
Hey, I differ in opinion to your good lady in that if it were a pre-CBS Fender, or a pre-Norlin Gibson, then yeah; a collectors piece. It's a Westone and thus it has nowhere near the value it should have as an exquisitely made piece of the luthiers art... which is a long-winded way of saying...
Please play it, man - it was meant to be played and enjoyed, not stuck away in a case....

Re: Guitar Appraisals
As much as we here are devoted owners and players of Uncle Mats finest, the outside world really doesn't give a poop!
And as much of a masterpiece as the Pantera is, it will never reach the dizzying prices seen for a vintage F or G.
So play it baby!
Play it!!

I agree Cosair. I do play it to test it out once in a while I have a Caspian Blue one that I use a lot and love that one and also a Alvarez Trevor Rabin Signature That is my personal favorite Just a note...I have been offered $1500 for my Museum piece a while back but I want to keep it. I would like to find and get a black x390 which are very few and you never seen.
