Hello, a warm greeting to all ...

This is my old Westone Thunder III.

It is in good condition but has wear divots  in the fingerboard between the first frets:

I have thought about doing a restoration according to Frank Ford's method.Using black cyanoacrylate (loctite 480) and fine ebony sawdust  I think the result can be good.
My question is: is my idea some kind of aberration, heresy or stupidity? ... or in other words ... would you do it?

Thank you in advance for your answers

Boy, someone's been grabbing the cowboy chords with some venom, eh!
Oddly the frets look ok, so, yeah - give it a crack! Take it as slowly as you can and you should be alright...

Yikes!
Unusual to see damage to the wood and not to the fret wire.
(Have you been dive bombing a lot? Laughing )

The repair you cite is a bit of a PITA but should work out just fine.

I'd use white wood glue. It's easier to work with and just as good.

Ah, that makes sense now.
Pity you did not address the divot issue at he same time, it would have been a lot easier job.
I'm going to do the work. Thanks for all the answers.
Have fun, and....don't forget to post up some pictures eh?

The result of the method is really good. The divots are now practically invisible, if you do not know what you are looking for ....
Thanks to the Westone forum and Frank Ford of course. afro
