Thanks - stillhaving problems though. I've switched from ios to android, can't get the android phone to talk to the Mac so I can't post pictures right now. Sorry for the delay in replying, there's been a lot of stuff getting in the way, including (but not limited to) lots of electrical work in the house, changing broadband services - now on super mega fast fibre, 100Mbps, but still getting messages like @yo0ur broadband is too slow for uninterrupted streaming. Then only some of the keys on the keydoard worked, tried another one - same problem. Third one worked... but then the Mac died, took a while to get it working. Then spent a week fighting the ultimate force of evil - self assembly furniture. I want a tshirt that says I !!!!ing hate  Ikea.

I'll keep the trem for anjother 7 days then it's going to recycling

The type of phone you are using is irrelevant, this forum does not host pictures.
They need to be hosted off site then you copy and paste the links to them here.

You should be able to upload your pix directly from your phone to your image hosting website, assuming you have a WiFi connection. Why the need to put them on the Mac?

OK then, how about this:

Consider Android File Transfer.
The app works on Mac computers with Mac OS X 10.5 or later and connects to your Android phone using your charger’s USB cable.

Once you’re all set, your phone will appear as a drive on your computer.

Follow these steps:
-          Download Android File Transfer to your computer
-          Remove the USB wall charger adapter from your phone charger, leaving just the USB charging cable
-          Connect your phone to your computer’s USB port via the charging cable
-          Open Mac Finder
-          Locate Android File Transfer on your list of drives
-          Double-click the Android drive icon

After this, you’ll be able to view a file with a complete list of applications. To open or view these apps, simply drag them to your desktop and move them around as needed. Then import any videos to iMovie or pictures to iPhoto.

You can also use your phone like an external hard drive to transfer files between different devices like your work and home computers, so long as the receiving computer also has Android File Transfer installed.

(EDIT: Another option...if you have access to a Bluetooth keyboard you could connect that to your phone)

It should work OK and it'll make your life a bit easier once you get the hang of it. And don't forget the blue tooth keyboard option for the phone. They're cheap and they work.

It's turned on, I'm not a complete idiot - some parts are missing. Turns out the USB lead that comes with the phone will only charge it, not transfer data. Need a new lead

Doing ok, recovering from a solid week battling the ultimate force of evil - self assembly furniture. Took 2 days to assemble an Ikea kitchen table, only took 5 days to put the whole kitchen in, inluding tiling and electrice.
