Amplifier day
Had an original AC30TB many, many years ago and sold it when skint.
Bought a very decent secondhand AC30TBX to replace it.
Great amps.

Plus a new guitar...

Seeing as I'm now officially retired according to the government,,,yippee!!!

AC30s are a little addictive, eh; I've not owned one for years and miss it more than I probably should!!

Love the Fillter'Trons.
But I wish they had come up with a better name. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

Gretsch do have some weird names for their guitars ie. White Penguin,Country Gentleman,Round up etc. and a confusing array of models.
Re: Amplifier day
I always had difficulty sorting out the Gretsch models and features when we sold them at the shop. But the owner was a huge fan and advertised us as the largest G dealer in the Province. He knew these things inside and out, and we sold quite a few.
I was always impressed with them but only a few really turned my crank. The Japanese built models (shipped from Japan) were flawless right out of the case, and the tuning only slightly off! Remarkable.

Re: Amplifier day
Coincidentally, Vintage Guitar magazine is running a series on James Burns, plus the groups who were famous for using the Burns guitars...like the Shadows (Corsair should be happy about that!).

Re: Amplifier day
Mate, I was never a huge Shads fan and loathed covering Apache or Wonderful Land or Kon-tiki and especially Cavatina, though I enjoyed playing the finger-picked rhythym guitar to that; only really enjoyed Man of Mystery!!
However, I did enjoy Bruce Welchs rhythym guitar work, probably more than Hanks lead lines if I'm honest!
Burns guitar are COOL! They have, or used to have a greenburst finish that was simply mega....

Re: Amplifier day
My mistake then. I was of the impression that you really dug the Shadows.
As for Apache, Jørgen Ingmann's version was just superb and left Hanks' in the dust!
