Thunder 1 neckplates Empty Thunder 1 neckplates

Post by GabGaff Tue Jan 23, 2018 10:36 am

Just wondering if these neck-plates (below) are common on Thunder 1 guitars? I have one on my 1983 Thunder 1, but I have a different neck-plate on another Thunder 1.

(Pic below from ebay listing - Westone - classic heavy duty neck plate and screws 1982/3 Paduak Concord Thuner

The ebay listing says "These were used on some of the early Thunders, Concords & Paduaks, from about mid 1982 to early 1983 (when the "Bird Logo" plate was introduced.  Before then, the simple Matsumoku plate with a serial number was used. So - they were short lived, in the life span of Westone"

Does anyone have anything else to add to this?

Cheers,
G.

The listing is right, also right expensive for a neck plate, that sellers guitar items are way over the top anyway!

Hi Gabgaff,

I don't have a definitive answer to this, but my 83? 1A V2 guitar has this plate, whereas my 1A Bass has a simpler chrome plate with various made in Japan info.
