XA1330 - Odd color... anyone ever seen this?
An hour away from me (haven't got to it yet)... When I do, I'm taking my Sherlock magnifying glass (actually a jeweler's loop) to check out the chips in the paint to see if this was oversprayed. Can't find this color on our wonderful westoneguitars.net site (or the other one). The dealer says this is an XA1330 based on the backplate (no photos of it - but I think they're right). Anybody got this color laying around (Mike / Gsaurus????). Let's see if I can add the photo correctly (been a while since I've posted...)

i have a genesis 2 that has a similar finish

there is a catalog pic of the 1330 with that finish (white burgundy burst), only just a small insert on the page which looks much more blue in color than the greenish tint it turns out to be
i have an XA 1330 with the platinum blue burst finish
nice guitars, last of the matsumoku spectrum guitars
good sounding pickups
has a really nice neck
tone shaper circuit

you should be able to pick it up for a good price
...are you back yet?

Thanks, Mike. I had seen the inset photo on the catalog when I was researching it. I'm wondering if someone oversprayed that one (in blue) with yellow and made it this asparagus color. I almost had that Anniversary model Genesis you shared a few days ago... LMK if you have another one in the barn (PM, please).

That thing looks like a GHOST!
I love that reverse burst look, so wild. Does anyone do that anymore?

I really like that 'shadow burst' too. I don't believe I've seen it on non-Mats guitars, I guess it isn't too popular with the masses.
edit:
Apropos of shadow finishes, I posted this Aria Pro II Libra some time ago over at the Mats site, and it's still available, and for a great price:

So to the original post before Barry got me all frazzled with that Aria Libra... the Green burst is on GuitarCenter's website. $150, chrome Bend Deluxe missing one fine tuner. FYI: GC has a program where you can pay the shipping on a guitar and they'll bring it to your local store and you can do layaway, or not buy at all and it lives there until the GAS gets ya and you go back. But everyone here knows that lol

I didn't know about the layaway thing, interesting.

A strange but appealing colour for sure. Just a thought when you're inspecting...be aware that very often when creating custom shades there is an unexpected base colour, or undercoat, used. If you do see another colour under the top finish it could well be an undercoat that you see rather than evidence of an original finish. Tricky stuff, this painting thing.drsyn67 wrote:...
