Spectrum ST -1985
This is an interesting one. I'm not familiar with that sunburst finish, was that standard or is this a custom job? Nice though.
He has it listed as an '86-87 but the serial says '85. And priced ridiculously high too methinks.
This is practically in my back yard so I'll be watching it closely.

Re: Spectrum ST -1985
O-o-o-o-ps! Sorry folks. I was doing a number of posts and had the wrong link in memory.
Should be OK now.
p.s. The guy seems to be a bit of an arrogant bugger...just won't accept the fact that it's an '85!
I was thinking of following up on this one but I don't want to bother dealing with him now.

Re: Spectrum ST -1985
What a nice jerk. And EMGs? Ugh. It's a pretty guitar, but not something I'd buy unless I could get ahold of some proper pickups.

Pretty but overpriced and modified. Like Warren said, unless you could get some MMK 45's for it.....

Re: Spectrum ST -1985
Yup.
I won't bother to repeat the names he's called me in off line correspondence! The guy's a completely arrogant SOB, and I'm very bad person for trying to correct him!
And you're quite right of course about the asking price. This won't sell for what he thinks it's worth. Someone should bid $1.00 just to teach him a lesson. The world's full of them (sigh).

Re: Spectrum ST -1985
Hi Barry,
please post some of the correspondence with this moron.
I'd like to read it, because sometimes when I look around on flea markets,
some of those guys which are selling their stuff are losing their manners in case you dig a little bit deeper.
Particular when they notice you understand a few things... Can be quite fun or some utter embarrassment.

Look at this moron's overseas shipping prices! $180 to Europe? $225 to Australia? Is he nuts?

Not even 1 Dollar I would help.
So let the ST R.I.P.
It's so sad, I do have one of those ST, its now one of my favourites.
She deserves better.

Re: Spectrum ST -1985
Naw, I don't want to waste any more time on this guy. Which is a shame because this sale is about 20 minutes away from me. Now, he's just a bloody embarrassment.hendrik wrote:...please post some of the correspondence with this moron...
I can't repeat his last message without being censored here. In essence, I told him that it did not matter when he bought the guitar. It was made, according to the serial number, in 1985! (He confirmed that this was the original neck.)
Nevertheless, I was told to do lewd things to myself with anatomical specificity and to leave him alone!
Um, that of course would not stop anyone else from harassing him though
I have a hotmail address for him on my other computer for those who feel adventurous!

Sadly, I think the consensus is spot on here; the seller is an oxygen thief and best left to stew in his own excrement!

Yup!
As I write this there's 6 hours left in the auction and not one bidder!
Ya gotta love it.

Re: Spectrum ST -1985
Well, well, well girls and boys. Looks like all of us were right and Mr. A-Hole was wrong!
Nobody bid on this guitar and I just got a notice from eBay that it has been re-listed!
LINK
And I notice with some glee that he now mentions twice that it's a 1985. I wonder how he ever got that idea?!
After all the horrible invective he fired at me, he now agrees? (Probably because nobody who knows these guitars was interested.)
If he's such an arse that he "mods" the thing, then digs in his heels about the manufacturing date, then posts a libelous note about a responder on line in his sale pitch...who can blame anyone for not wanting to deal with him?
That's the good news.
The bad news is that he's sticking to his original price and shipping costs, so no breaks for any potential buyers among us.
He still doesn't get it.

Re: Spectrum ST -1985
Plus shipping!
The seller jumped at the only offer so he was keen to get rid. I looked up the buyer's record and he appears to be a dealer of some sort, so I suspect an ulterior motive is behind the sale. Not likely a collector/player.
It looks like he in turn either has a buyer himself or he's going to reassemble the original hardware and electronics then sell off the EMG's, etc.
