i picked up this 'guitar' mostly for all the rest of the parts that were included, about 98% of everything originally on it. it was outfitted with 'gold' bits & pieces. included all the pups, switches, pots, and covers too.

Atta boy, already shticking it back together!
Titebond seems to be the preferred gooey stuff. Certainly, my close personal friend Dan Erlewine and others swear by it.
But the last time I looked not all the Titebond line was available here via the usual outlets.

That glue I used in the UK for the Urchin repair was pretty bloody good, too - Cascamite, it is called and I'm betting Damian knows it!!
Nice one, Mike - looks like it might be a very classy guitar when you're done repairing it, eh!!

Nice early post-Mats MIK. The large horns never appealed to me though.
I've seen a few of them locally over the past couple of years, but they all tend to be green trans finish for some reason.
Check that...mostly bolt-ons and set necks. Still don't care for the horns though.
Yeah, the red looks classier.

Re: Vantage 928GDT with Pete Townshend mod...
i could hardly be more amazed...
it is all glued together and just a brief sanding to smooth the joint. i began light sanding over the whole body to remove the lacquer finish and the random blobs and streaks of paint etc. there is a chunk of wood missing next to the neck i have to repair. i have a piece of ash i will use to try to fashion a patch for it. the holes you can see are from the wood screws that the previous owner used to put the neck back on.
i decided that, before i invested a bunch of time, i'd check to see if it will actually function as a real guitar.
so i installed all the parts i have. only missing the string locks and screws, switch tip for the 5-way, tremolo cavity cover. it has one broken tone pot, it still functions, just nothing to hold a knob (good enough for a test run). also missing the whammy bar and the collar it passes through to screw into the trem block.
all set up and i absolutely cannot believe how nice this thing plays already. i was concerned that i did not get the neck aligned properly, but it is dead on! the action is super low, the neck is soooo nice! thin and gently flattened on the back. i did not even need to tweak the truss rod and it set up beautifully!
i'm going to leave it as is for a few days. give the glue some time to really harden up and see if the neck can handle the tension or if it needs any adjustments. right now it plays great, even with a piece of wood missing beside the neck.
seems it will be well worth the time to do a nice refinish.

Looking fine!!
You'll have to square the hole up to make your patch work, yes?

yeah, i'll have to flatten the surfaces that contact the new wood at least. this will probably be harder than the neck, or more tedious really. the neck was a clean break and fit back together like puzzle pieces, good and snug. at least this one is not structural, so not too critical. i have a scrap piece of ash that i'll try to find something close to the grain texture on the body. hopefully it won't be too obvious after a new finish. even if it is, i think i'll probably be okay with it, considering where this started.

Wow, how nicely did that go together? Just great. Good luck with the patch repair. Ya got a keeper out of it after all!
