Westone Pantera
I am in Southern Arizona and would like to find a decent playing Pantera. My funds are limited and hope I can trade for it. I would like a two humbucker example, fixed or trem bridge.

Re: Westone Pantera
A 2 h/b Pantera, eh?! Only possibly the rarest, most desirable Pantera.... the X350MA!!
Most - the X300, 275, and 390 - were H/S/S configured and the X350 is getting plenty expensive these days....
Spectrums were available in a dizzying array of models which were peculiar to Westone and the 2 x h/b models are the ST and DX, which also sometimes carry the dreaded UBC pickups. These were an attempt to do something cool that dudn't work and the output from these UBCs is a little weak and sterile. If you find an ST or DX that you fancy, pull the p'ups and find out what you're dealing with!!
You might consider the Spectrum LX and FX, too; H/S/H configured and every one I've seen has MMK 45 pickups....
All of the above models, except for the X350, which had a hardtail version, are trem equipped.....

Re: Westone Pantera
Well, the model will have to be of secondary importance. I will be looking for any Westone guitar or bass that has good construction and nice pickups. I have been looking for last decade or so on Craigslist and in pawn shops.

A rarer 3-single coil Electra Phoenix in Texas...

Look at my post in the general section GuitarCrap on Phoenix and Spectrum models. You are sure to find a model to your liking.

Re: Westone Pantera
X390 is an HB / HB configuration... but is not that less expensive or easy to land most of the time.
Re: Westone Pantera
GC, you just cannot go wrong with a Spectrum. The price, the comfort, the versatility, it's all there. The above ST listing is a good price and Spectrums typically sell between $150 and $350 depending on the model, finish, etc.
If you are at all handy or have the interest there are always restoration candidates out there for under the $150 mark. Still worth it.

Re: Westone Pantera
The other dual HB models which Westone produced were the Dimension IV, the Dynasty, the Raider II, and the Session II.
Again with exception possibly to a Dynasty you will probably find these models to be harder to find for sale as well as asking prices being higher.
If you are on a budget the Spectrum line, especially an ST or an S will be your best bet.

Re: Westone Pantera
Dim 4 and the Dynasty were H/S/H, but still worthy, eh!! There's been a few D4s about lately and a few Dynastys but yeah; Spectrum S, ST or DX for H/H, or Spectrum LX, FX for the win!!

Re: Westone Pantera
I'm hoping to find one within no more than 100 miles, hopefully less. The one in Denver is much too far from Tucson.

Yes!! Any of the Matsumoku Vantages will do; I really like the Avengers - I have 4! There was no fiddling about with the UBC concept with Vantage - they all seem to pack MMKs of some stripe!! Avengers and the VP/VS seemed to all be 45s, the VAs are 53s and the semis are the 75s...
