Weston with Weston logo

I picked up a guitar in trade. It was represented as a Westone
but the headstock logo was Weston. Everything was identical to a Westone.
The logo was identical but for the absence of the E. Has anyone ever found
one of these? There is no info online.

Several of these have surfaced here over the years. If you do a search in these forums you can read all about them. The concensus appears to be that they're Korean made. As to the name, who knows? Copyright infringement maybe.

Check for a scarf joint on the neck, and position markers along the edge of the fret board to confirm.

I have confirmed the scarf joint and the position markers on the fretboard edge. I had heard lots of good things about Westone for many years and wanted one. I was excited when one was offered in trade for an item that I had posted on Craigslist. I did not notice the missing E till I arrived home. The trader is not assuming any responsibility of course. I am not young and have poor vision and I was tricked.
My search for a nice Westone goes on.

Sorry to hear that. Still, many of the early Koren builds are quite nice and you might have a decent player there. But it ain't a Mats.

I am not sure what model would be appropriate for me. I want a couple of nice warm pickups and a whammy. In case anyone is nearby, I am in southern Arizona, USA.

Then, do you like single coil noise or humbuckers? Or a combination of the two? The Spectrums are still reasonably priced and the Panteras have plenty going on....

MMK45s in any of the above make a nice growl and many hold them in high esteem, up there with the early DiMarzio Super Distortions....

I like both single coils and humbuckers but I have enough single coil Fenders, so I guess something with humbuckers. I am not too concerned with body style as long as it sounds good and growls. My main issue is finding one that I can afford on a fixed income. It would be nice if someone was willing to trade.

I have been looking at photos of various models. There are so many variations as to make it hard to choose.

....I would also like a body style that is unique to Westone.

I think the Pantera is what would suit me. I do not have much hope of finding one here, but anything is possible.

By the way, my user name is what my late wife called all of my music gear.

I was wrong about the person that traded the "Weston" to me. He is providing me with another guitar. He did not ask, but I will be giving this "guitar" back to him. It is unplayable.

I am trying to send some pics of the Weston but can't get my devices to cooperate yet. I will keep trying. It is an HSH configuration with a flame maple veneer on top. There is a five way switch and active 5-way boost knob and a push pull on what seems like a tone control, it thickens the tone. Overall in very nice condition. The back trem cover is missing and I installed a brand new Schaller trem arm with mount.

I like the branded pickups and branded floyd.  Neat touch. 

I have some ambivalence about keeping or selling this guitar. The value in the US is probably unknown so I am leaning toward keeping it. I really would prefer a Westone instead of a Weston. I also prefer a simpler layout.

Doesn't look so bad. But, is it just me or does that single coil look oddly close to the neck pup?

The single coil is properly spaced between the humbuckers. It was the bright Arizona sun causing a shadow that made it seem out of position.

I saw a Westone "THE RAIL" bass offered on Reverb for US $595 + shipping OBO.
It looks almost new, with the original gigbag in nice condition too. It is not in my budget at the moment. I have to buy new glasses unexpectedly. I reached for them this morning, but found them under the bed being chewed by one of my dogs.

Ask yourself, how much do you really need to be able to see   ?

Compared to The Rail, 20/20 vision is overrated

It would be nice if I could trade the Weston for a Westone but no one here has or likes Westones and nor are there any Westones available in this dusty backwater.
