Something to be jealous about...
Alright guys, let's brag about our best guitar deals.
What were some of your best guitar deals or steals you've found?!
Anyone land a Strat for beans or an LP for a song? Or a Spectrum LX for $29 (like someone has, not me)?
Let's hear it, what kind of deals did you get?!

Re: Something to be jealous about...
this was about 4 years ago…
i answered a craigslist for a beat up Electra Workingman for $75.
sorry looking burnout dude living in his parent's basement, scavenging the garage for something to sell for cash…
i get there and pay for the guitar, nice…
he hands me the guitar and says, 'maybe you want to take a look at this other one i got…'
and he pulls out this really greasy-dirty old red guitar from the back of the garage and says, ' you can have this one for another hundred bucks.'
i tried not to wet my pants when he pulled out this X199
$175 for two fine guitars needing only some serious cleaning and some minor parts.
he shoots…. he scores!

Re: Something to be jealous about...
Oh, yummy; nice one!
Don and I have this weird thing going on where we send each other guitars and no money changes hands; does that count?
No real steals here, although the Urchin was £50 but in pieces!

Re: Something to be jealous about...
1983 Thunder I-A. . . $50
Needed some new toggle switches, bridge saddles and rewiring, and Corsair and Eyebulger came to the rescue with 2 brass knobs, but the important stuff was still all there, under the dirt!
1985 Spectrum DX. . .$75
Owned by the teen aged son of a drummer who messed it up without mercy. A few repro parts from David Blair and some custom work on my part and she's a great player with rock solid tuning.
1984 Spectrum SX. . .$100
Lovely trans blue hardly used, came with all her parts, but the bridge posts were lifting out. Epoxy to the rescue! Oh, and, OHSC included!
Several other really good Westone and Vantage bargains between $140 and $180, 'cuz I'm basically a cheep bastid!

£200 Les Paul Custom '69
£175 Rainbow II. Stick a Westone in for good measure. Had many Thunders, Spectrums and the like for peanuts.

Re: Something to be jealous about...
After that 200 pounds 69 Les Paul Custom, I quit! :-)
I will get to it sooner or later, I have the baby on my lap right now while my wife works. She's already cancelled my post three times in a row, I'm trying to keep it out of her hands while I try to finish it quick.

Re: Something to be jealous about...
My first Dimension IV with OHSC, £65 in almost mint condition came with a gibson t top original dirty fingers bridge bucker, which sold for.... A measly sum of £65!
The dimension later sold for £360
Prestige250, beaten, broken repaired, £50 now plays like new
And I'll be getting a thunder II bass free come springtime

Re: Something to be jealous about...
Forgot about, my green/blue Washburn rs10v, £56 via ebay, but it didn't arrive and no comms return from the seller, so another month goes by and I get my refund from Ebay /Paypal, another few weeks later a guitar turns up on my doorstep, wrapped only in 2 pairs of jeans!
Tried to repay but the eBay account AND Paypal account had been closed!

Re: Something to be jealous about...
Yep... Pete's got this one, methinks! Free guitar AND free jeans!!! So much win!!
Chad. Mate. You really don't need that Endorser. I believe they are damaging to your health, so in the interests of being a good friend I'll relieve you of the burden that it represents.
Oh... just shove that pointy in the same box, mate! OK?!

Re: Something to be jealous about...
John, you are a saint! Saint John. I'll get that packed up real soon, on the second Tuesday of next week. Will that work? You need more pointies my friend!
I did NOT, however, recieve any complementary trousers with any these guitars... Pete is just God's favorite, I suppose.

Ha! You should see the jeans! 42" bottoms, about 24" long, not my cuppa.
I think westbone wins so far, 200 sovs for a 69 custom? Bonkers.

That was about 20 odd years ago. Prior to prices going mad.Sgt. Vimes wrote:

Just happened to be in the right place at the right time with cash in pocket. He wanted 250 but was desperate...

Re: Something to be jealous about...
My Ventura ended up costing me $20 in the end after the seller refunded me for the amp I paid for but he was never able to deliver.
