westone - Westone SG style dating from the 1970's Empty Westone SG style dating from the 1970's

Ok, so after much deliberation (and need to make space at home) I have decided to part with my Westone SG style 1970's Italian made guitar. I don't know if anyone here may be interested in it but here are the details:

Long story short, I purchased her from a store in America just before Xmas Dec 2013. She didn't fly through customs back here to the UK due to the Christmas rush and as a result the neck suffered as a result of the changing temperatures in storage I guess ???.

Finally upon receipt it was apparent the neck had suffered so I took her to a local luthier who put a new nut on (not very well sadly) and then explained the neck had warped. I was going to get her sorted for gigging but as time has gone by she has just sat in her cover. The good news is she does play, holds pitch and sounds great, but she is not perfect and the neck/nut will require attention to bring her up to speed. The frets that buzz are: low E 2nd and 3rd, A 2nd, D 2nd (slightly).

I was informed this model was made in Italy as a preproduction prototype for Westone in the late 70's prior to the manufacturing going to Japan, I don't know how correct that information is???

Anyway, here are some images of her:

This is a taster of what she sounds like:

Here is the link to the original story on the forum complete with images of the neck and new nut:

If anyone is interested in her as a project please feel free to contact me, I am open to sensible offers (based in the UK but can ship at cost). Failing that she will go on the bay, Thank you gents Smile

Well there's a thing, thinking of selling a guitar your not using, put her on a stand within easy reach and give her some air time. In this instance a lesson well learnt, I just haven't stopped playing her Very Happy

With some cathartic hindsight I think I owe it to this old girl to get her fixed up and gig worthy, so please ignore the above, a moment of GAS weakness !!! Mad

Yup, been there! my green Thunder in case, it was always going to be sold but everytime I think of listing it I'll noodle away and I just love the organic feel of the thick oil finish, I change my mind back again.

Si, if it plays ok and sounds as good as it is in your clip there, then play on maestro!

Thanks guys, she definitely has a usable sound pallet for what I play, slightly underpowered in the bridge and crisp in the bridge for chopping.

Would have been very happy for anyone here to have her but sending her out into ebay land just felt so wrong, as I say lesson learnt, just need to get saving to have her sorted properly now.
