Super Headless wiring
Hi all
I have a Super Headless that has been stripped and in pieces.
It's the red/black version with Dual Tone and Active on off switches (not the later one with the phase control added). The pickups are the J style hum buckers with wiring in red, blue, green and yellow.
There are no wiring diagrams available anywhere on the net that I can find. All those available point to the Thunder 11, which is the same as then later 3 switch model, but differs in colour coding and switching from mine
Can anyone help with a diagram or photos of the same model that I have?
Here's hoping…
cheers

Re: Super Headless wiring
Hi again Mark.
Been thinking bout your query.
Maybe have a look at the thunder 3 wiring?
They have a p and a j pickup, so I don't think it would be too hard to imagine it with 2 jazz pick ups?
If you don't want the actives then the demarzio site has lots of wiring diagrams for all configurations.
I'm sure there are lots of guys on here that can tell you the colour coding for your pickups.
Hope you get it sorted.

Re: Super Headless wiring
thanks, but the Thunder 3A (P/J config) I owned also had the 3 mini toggles. Same as the 2 and the second version of Super Headless
maybe if anyone has the Thunder 3A Mk2, with the Magnabass pickups they could help... it looks like it might be the same
I can do down the passive route, but if anyone has this early Super Headless, or a 3 Mk2, just some photos of the wiring cavity would help a lot
It's about time this wiring config got added to the Westone.info/wiring site

Re: Super Headless wiring
hmm.. ok
your URL has the same list of diagrams as the one I found at westone.info/wiring - looks like the same page, but laid out differently
I would have put the full link, but this forum won't let newcomers post links for 7 days after joining.
don't suppose you have one of these basses?

Re: Super Headless wiring
Give me a day or two I'll stick up some photos of my s/headless's guts for you.
Not the same pups as yours but same switching.
Just had a similar problem with those JB style pups. Which are a stacked h/bucker as you know. They used different coloured wires on a few.
Here's a link, not the same but might help a bit.

Re: Super Headless wiring
That's because it was based on the same initial data courtesy of David Blair who owned the original westone.info site which is now an archive. Ours has continuous input from the forum members here and is updated continually with new pictures, history, and repair info.Mark_ir wrote:...your URL has the same list of diagrams as the one I found at westone.info/wiring...

Re: Super Headless wiring
Thanks very much.
The colours are different (it baffles me why they used such random selections..) , but I'll see if I can translate
much appreciated

Re: Super Headless wiring
Post it here and I'll grab it and put it up on the website.
In the meantime I've referenced this thread for anyone else who may be searching.

Re: Super Headless wiring
so... having no computer art skills, I hope the above makes sense... and many thanks to Beth_rf for translating my scribbles.
This is the earlier version of the Super Headless with the Jazz style stacked humbuckers.
