Well at least it was loved.  Before getting sold to GC for probably $400 or so.   

I bought it. It needs a lot of work. I am looking for parts. Now I have serial number 6093297 and 6093286, both Caspian blue x390s. The neck was cracked on the first, the headstock is messed up on the one I got from GC because the previous owner drilled into the back to put on a differnt locking system.
I have a lot of work to do... wish me luck.

Just picked up 6093287, also an X390 CB, she's very nice except for the point of the headstock. Even still has the protective paper stuck to the rear guard! Paid too much, but it truly is like new other than the tip.

Got it thru ebay a week or so ago. Paid too much. Would have been worth it if the tip hadn't been damaged. its like a time capsule

Just lovely! That chipped headstock shouldn't be too much of a hassle to repair, eh!!

And US$800 isn't too bad a price, though I get the heebie-jeebies if I pay more than about A$300 :-); I think you've done well - they went tnrough a phase of fetching silly money.... lot of guitar for the money, eh!!

I also do not think that this is a bad price. The last one went on eBay for something around 1100 USD if I remember correctly.

I paid 680EUR/720 USD for my white one and its condition isn't as good as yours.

Ya gotta expect the pointies to get into trouble, very few of them survive without at least a ding, bump, or worse.  

As for the paper on the control cover, I recently picked up a 1987 Anniversary Genesis XA1630 which also had the protective paper stuck to it. Happens more often than you think.

It's a bit tedious to remove after 30-odd years and it's very gummy, but hit it with low heat from a hair dryer and use a credit card to gently "push" the worst of it off. The residue can clean up with a commercial remover or even vegetable oil if you're patient.

This particular guitar came from a pawn shop in s.Cal. I received it with no warning or pictures of the broken headstock.
I had originally paid 1285. with 140. of that shipping.

As you can imagine, I was less than ecstatic when I realized I had been duped.
I put a message in thru the ebay system and received a reply with a phone number to call. Spoke with Garrett who seemed genuinely unaware of the issue, said he had been selling off several for a collector near his location, and hadn't had any serious issues before.

After some questions and back and forth, I found out this was the same owner as the last one to sell thru ebay (the one for 1100 Dan).

I the end a 350 refund was accepted, and while , to me , no number can be put on the damage to an otherwise pristine 390, it does feel that the final price of~800 is much more appropriate for this guitar. Original Case included.

Yikes! WD40 is not what I had in mind. I meant something like Goo Gone or the like. Generally speaking, you don't want WD40 anywhere near your electronics. It's main use is for helping to loosen frozen metal parts, screws, bolts etc. It'll eventually turn gummy and become a dirt magnet. Not good on an electrical contact.

Glad you got the paper off OK and got a refund. Score!

No worries, washed it in the kitchen sink with warm water and Dawn dish detergent. It was dry as a bone when I put it back on.
