Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
Hey Dee and welcome,
the red thunder III that is currently on ebay looks good: link
(although I think you already discovered that one)...
The seller added a note that he would also ship the bass.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
Thanks for the welcome, Hans. I know the one you mean. It looks like it needs some work but I'm tempted to bid. On the other hand I might try holding out for a better condition example. What do you think my chances are of picking up a decent one?

Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
I'd say your chances are ok (without engagement), it mostly depends on how patient you are and how much you are willing to pay.
Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
I'm thinking somewhere close to £300.

I have a Thunder III Fretless that I want to sell.
I know it's not what you asked for but let me know if you're interested anyway.

Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
My search is over. Not because I found a Thunder III (I'd still love to own one) but because I bought an Aria Pro II SB-R150 instead.
For anyone who cares, it was an eBay find. £600. Bought for me by my wife. I am a very lucky man.

Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
Yes, it's definitely Matsumoku. The R150 was only made for a couple of years. It'll have been produced between 1981-1983, I think. I'll post pics in the relevant section when it gets here!

Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
Well, the Aria was stolen when my house was burgled in July. If anyone sees this bass in the Sheffield area (or anywhere else in the UK), please get in touch.
It was an absolutely stunning bass and I was thrilled to own it. I had never owned a good bass before this, and sadly I only had it for 6 weeks. It wasn't even insured. These pics (original eBay auction pics) don't come close to doing it justice.
The full serial number is unknown but it starts with a 3. Neck pickup isn't working (was about to be replaced) and there is a lacquer chip on the edge of the fretboard (treble side) somewhere around the 9th fret. The chip is about 1" long by maybe 1/4" wide.
There is a reward for info leading to it's return.

Hello Dee.
I don't play bass but I'm an owner of 6 Matsumoku guitars and I've been following your post here.
My sympathies to you...what a lousy thing to have happen.
She was a stunning instrument and I hope you can find her again.
Best of luck.

I feel for you man. I hope it makes it back home. I worry about my stuff daily. Studio is in view from the house but in a detached garage and everything seems so fragile out there. I need a kickass security system I guess.

As long as you're insured you'll be OK, unless of course there is something of sentimental value that can't be replaced easily.

Mate, I''m sorry for your loss - do the usual things and let all of the music and 2nd hand shops in your area know, eh and trundle around them as well! Jeez, there are some miserable pricks out there.... you may all remember Polly got burgled not too long ago as well!!!

Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
Thanks man. That was one of the first things I did, now pretty much all the local shops know about it. They were very helpful, too.
I also lost a pretty pretty decent Squier Vintage Modified Jazz and an Ibanez RG750 guitar that had been with me since 1991. It was played to death, stripped of paint and pretty much worthless, I kept it for sentimental reasons. Again, it was another present from a girl. What is it with women buying me guitars? Not that I'm complaining!
Oddly enough the thieving scumbags missed another guitar which is probably worth around £700, a mint Ibanez RG550 20th Anniversary (in eye-melting Road Flare Red!). That one was cased up in a cupboard, though. I'm happy to say they also left my hifi. The idiots couldn't figure out how to un-wire it but they tried.
Apologies for blabbering on. OK, if you see my Aria bass, give us a shout!

Re: Thunder II or III Bass (UK)
Hello Dee and Chaps!
Hey mate, that's a rotten thing to happen, may the horrible little toerags suffer a long and painful death for stealing your gear.
John is right, I did get burgled not so long ago but fortunately(?) the stuff that was taken from me wasn't worth very much in comparison, it's still annoying though to say the least!
On a general note here guys, just to let you know that I haven't fell off the face of the earth and that I haven't forgotten about you all. I've been really busy of late (laying tiles in my kitchen!) and just haven't had the time to respond to any posts. I'm enjoying a few days rest now with my best friend who is staying with me so I will be back with you all very soon.
Behave yourselves and I'll see you all very soon!
