Re: Wanted a Bigsby b7 or b70 trem
Oh dear.
I never felt the LP should have one o' those dastardly thingy's.
I know Lester hisself used one in his final days but I think that was to compensate for the crippling arthritis. Friggin' hard to do a finger vibrato I can tell ya.
Why for ya wanna do dat? Huh? Git yerself a nice Gretsch!

Re: Wanted a Bigsby b7 or b70 trem
Very true about the arthrtis Barry, its a complete nightmare....
The gretsch is a option though a very expensive one as i do really like a black rock or duo jet..
The electromatic range are ok but hold price well over here in uk an haven't the duo sonic pickups that i love... Most either have the mini humbuckers or the new black top buckers in so would mean tv jones an a bigsby b7 as they have a b5 fitted..
Duofuzz my brother dan went with the tv jones classic an b70 route an did a great job of it but paid out a small fourtune doing it on his electromatic..
Me i have the Les paul with its p90's an thought it not a real 56 but a modern copy so why not...
Just makes it different enough to stand out an gives it abit old school charm...
plus always wanted a 50's bigsby les paul... Really want a 50's bigsby'd les paul...

Very smart Revelation by MD Les Paul gold top...
Very happy with it as cost next to nowt at £120:00 including P&P and very close to my ideal les paul..Might put it to a vote...
Should I or Shouldn't I Bigsby it...
Couldn't find any coming up on my search on EBay mobile Westbone mate so thought i try to see if any one had one lying around for trade or sale on here...

Re: Wanted a Bigsby b7 or b70 trem
Steve, if you're keen to do this, I think anything but the real Bigsby will end in tears. We're the largest Gretsch dealer in the Greater Toronto Area (if not Southern Ontario) and the Bigsby's are smooth as whale snot on the MIJ models. The MIK models (Electromatic) are also very good and serviceable but not quite as good.
Where you usually run into difficulty is with the "licenced" versions of these things on non-Gretsch guitars. Godin (a Canadian company, well, Quebec company at least) make fantastic guitars at reasonable prices. But their attempt at a Gretsch-like model, the Montreal, was a bit of a disaster. We've had one hanging on the wall for over a year now. No matter what you do to it, you need to damn near put yer shoulder to it to make it warble.
Also had a similar experience this year with a new Bigsby equipped Gibson LP model that the sales rep proudly showed us. Bloody awful!
Point being, if they can't get it right at the factory, it doesn't bode well for the average tinkerer.

Re: Wanted a Bigsby b7 or b70 trem
Been reading up an the B7 is the one im going for so will save up an buy one after my holiday away unless i find one away....
Seen a few B70'S retro fitted on badly setup guitars in the past... Shame about the Godin as i like the Godin brand guitars though Dan really wants a Godin radiator badly....Me i really like the kingpin guitars..
Still might need a roller bridge too but thats after the trems here

Gretsch with a bigsby or Les Paul with a bigsby, Stephen Stills has you covered...

Re: Wanted a Bigsby b7 or b70 trem
yip Barry to freaking cool for words though any would do at the right price..
Come on thats not fair as Stephen Stills could pluck a wet jock strap an make it sound great..
Great vid though gittarasaurus mate...
Bigsby might be on hold as trying to find info on the Revelation series by MD guitar.. Its not the same the Revelation brand an guitars out in the uk now... May be after a GRETCSH after all too....
Though with DYNASONICS pickups in ...

Re: Wanted a Bigsby b7 or b70 trem
Looks good Steve, even if not my cup o' tea.
Any plans to change the bridge? The ABR-1/Nashville style can be used with the Bigsby but it often ends up with the string windings catching and consequently going out of tune.
Gretch bridges tend to "wobble" back and forth a little bit and minimize this tendency (factory setup versus after market again).
Nut Sauce can help, but it might be worth it to install roller saddles if you can.
