Allen key holder ...
Has anyone got one of these of a Bendmaster equipped guitar handy that they can take some pics of, and measurements as well, please? I thought I'd have a go at making one but all of my gear is stored quite a distance away in a different island... how's that for forward planning!!!???
Also has anyone got a complete Allen key clamp; I'm wondering if the OEM key securing bolts were thumbwheels a la the fine tuners, or just machine bolts?

Re: Allen key holder ...
Hey up mate, this is your lucky day!
I've got two of these, one from my old Clipper CL4112 and one from my Pantera. I can tell you that the Allen keys are just held in with normal grub screws.
Here is a photo of the one from the Clipper and I'll take some measurements from both and take a couple more photos for you.

I as well could take some pics of mine if you want. I have a set of calipers, might give you a more accurate measurement. Let me know bro...

You pair of beauties!! All measurements gratefully accepted and pics from all sides would be great! Thanks for that Polly - I'm glad that they are just machine screws, albeit nickel or chromed; I had nightmares about thumbwheels!!

Re: Allen key holder ...
Have a look on David's Westone site at the Pantera section. I would of thought that the keys are held in by thumb screws rather than grub screws that require you to go looking for the screwdriver that you cant find because you left on the stage the other week !
Thumb screws make better sense otherwise we will need a holder to hold the screwdriver, that undo's the screws on the holder that holds the allen keys that adjust the locknut and the trem !!! If we do need a holder for a screwdriver, can we use thumb screws, otherwise we will need another screwdriver to undo the grub screws that hold the screwdriver etc etc etc.....
I'm going to the pub ... cheers for now !

Ah,yes, I see! They're like the fine tuner screws with an added slot for a screwdriver to tweak then a touch tighter.... Oh bugger....

Actually, thinking about it, my Genesis II did have one of the OEM screws, and it has a smaller head diameter than the fine tuner screws, from memory... double bugger!!

Re: Allen key holder ...
Hi John,
Ebay UK has replacement key holders, the only difference being that they arent bevelled where the screws attach it to the neck. I emailed the guy a little while ago to to ask what the distance was between the screw holes and they were the same as ours. However, the screws themselves look larger .... I could be wrong.
All yours for the princely seem of £5 ish. And they have thumb screws ...

Re: Allen key holder ...
hm...my x300pp is equipped with those fine-tuning screws(sorry for the bad quality):

Re: Allen key holder ...
Come on troops; I've gotta know the details of these rotten things before I try to make 'em, eh!! I need the thread size and pitch, too (probably metric fine!), threaded section length, head diameter and head depth for the screws, and a drawing of the actual holder would be good!
...actually, just looking at those holders from Black Dog, why would one bother trying to make one? I'd buy one of these for £5 and be done with it!!

Re: Allen key holder ...
Hi Folks, just received one of the chinese allen key holders on Ebay in the mail.
I purchased it soley for the thumbscrews, on the hope that they would fit the original Westone Allen key holder.
And guess what, they fit.
The head is possibly slightly smaller than the original but the thread is perfect.
What do you think.
Cheers.

Re: Allen key holder ...
Hi Trevor,
How different is the Westone allen key block to the one you bought off ebay. Could be adapted?

Re: Allen key holder ...
Hi Steve, very similar.
In fact the screw holes appear to line up.
The main difference is the shoulder bevel on the genuine item.

Re: Allen key holder ...
Great stuff, not beyond the wit of man to create the bevels required to be original, and then re-chrome. Cheers
