I'm excited. Wanted a Red Dynasty to mod and gig with. REALLY like the Raider, but it goes to a great home.

Third time a forumite has owned this doll now. Sir Chadwick will have to live with an Electra owner in his new toy's bloodline.

I'll have to post photos soon, really like the Dynasty.

Interesting differences, the "Electra/Westone" Dynasty that I have is a little different from the "Westone" Dynasty. The Electra/Westone seems more solid and more attention paid to detail, the Switchmaster knobs are different (metal instead of plastic), and the color is a brighter red than on the Westone which is a deeper blood red.

~ Hey Chad... you're right on the knobs for sure. I just "felt-up" both of my Dynastys and confirmed the same thing. The tone is different on my two, also... The Electra Westone has a better high end and the later Westone Dynasty has more of a deeper growl... a bit more muffled, but a nice difference. I have my eye on one locally... my number three will be a Red Electra version of this WMD.

Interesting you'd say that. You're right on the tone, my Electra/Westone has a brighter sound, more snarl. The Westone is actually a little deeper, still real nice though. Both have MMK45's in them however. Maybe the manufacturing on the pups changed a little.

I would imagine that the manufacturing numbers increased with the Westone changeover as Westone put a lot of cash into advertising and therefore had to increase production to get stock into stores. This was also 1985, heavy metal had attracted a lot of young players. Matsumoku and many other guitar companies had changed styles to cater to them, this was a boom time for guitar manufacturing (especially for imports). So the changes seem to make sense.

I recently lost-out on an '85 version in the Green/Gray (like my profile photo) - but it had the bent tips (like yours). I had never seen that year model in that color!
