...and with a fine toothed comb of course. The far superior "Professional, Studio Grade" model we've all been clamoring for...

Even given the P/SG pricepoint it looks pretty decent. Session use only though, mind you... Thinking

at one point i carried on extensive negotiations with the owner, to try to get a more realistic price, but he is very fixated that his guitar is soooo special and wonderful, that it is worth even way more than he is asking.

which is why it is still for sale after 2+years on craigslist Twisted Evil

I have run into that same exact type of seller too often myself. A combination of a strange and wonderful fixation which has nearly bordered on the ludicrous more than once.

Still, when you consider the price it would cost to find something comparable in a current offering that would cover all the bases that an FX can, I suppose 4 - 5 bills might be seen as downright cheep.

But as an extinct model line with a limited audience vying for it, yeah... this guy is out of the bounds of the market value as it stands currently.

right now there are 9 spectrum LX guitars listed on ebay for less than his asking price, and all of those have been up for sale for many months as well...

i absolutely would not deny that a better guitar cannot be found for the money,
buuuuuuuut.......

it is a small niche market and there is not an endless supply of rabid seekers that would keep driving prices higher.

i would go back to a remark i have made in the past about the price of a westone:
an absolutely perfect one should draw a good premium price, because of age and limited availability of perfect examples.
but there are many many out there that are not perfect, and the price should drop off very quickly for less than perfect ones.

because they are not a well known brand and the audience of seekers is small, but they are (mostly) easily available, the average price should be very affordable, even though, as we all know, the quality is unsurpassed in that price range.
