Rainbow II
Hi There!
I'm a new member and I was able to spot a superbe Rainbow II. I think it was on ebay recently but didn't reach the reserve price... I'm about to buy this beautifull guitar but I would like to know what it's really worth!! I don't know how much I should spend on it so it would be nice if you guys could give me a price...

Regards,
A

Re: Rainbow II
By all accounts, they are a very nice guitar and if you're happy with the price, then go for it! Market value is as fickle as what people have to spend!

Re: Rainbow II
ok but there is not really a price...it's not an ebay auction or other kind of auction...so price is discussed between him and me and I would like to know if i'm spending a correct amount on the guitar...
I know market does not always reflect reality but I never saw a Rainbow II going out on auction on ebay so I don't know how much they are sold "usually"
thanks anyway for the quick reply ;-)

Re: Rainbow II
There would appear to be little realistic difference between the 1 and 2 models, so given that they are fetching reasonably big dosh on eBay, - (check the expired listings) - , I would say a mutually acceptable price would be OK; either way you'll get a fabulous guitar!!

Re: Rainbow II
Ok I see, you won't give me no price :-)
And I don't know where to search for the expired auctions :-S
But ok I'll figure it out anyway, it's a fantastic guitar!
+ it's one of the very first rainbow II's...
Somebody already experienced this guitars??

Re: Rainbow II
i guess you are talking about that one:

i can't give you a price either...it just depends on what you are willing to pay. I have been restaurating a pantera x790 (pictures will follow next week) during the last month, and i spent more than the guy wanted for the rainbow...just to give you a hint. I did that because I terribly fell in love with that bass (my girlfriend already got really jealous of that axe, and i have not played it even once ;-) ).I wouln't spend that much money if "i bought it because it is a rare guitar and it is available"(if that is a good reason to buy guitars at all).
However,if you love it,jump on it.
best wishes
hans

Re: Rainbow II
Yes it is...impressions?
I don't know that much about the westones but I am looking for a good quality and a not conventional 335 copy so I guess the westone is more than ok... Moreover, I think the price is nice... At least I know some folks willing to pay a lot more for this baby so!
It should be mine saturday so I'll keep you guys updated!

Re: Rainbow II
No, I wouldn't even roughly give a price as I have only the eBay listings to go from and some of them seem very expensive indeed...
There's a few in here will take it off your hands if you don't like it,
eh!! Be sure to let us have a look at it when you get it, though...

Re: Rainbow II
I've got the guitar for a few weeks now and it is AMAZING!!! Sound is just what I was looking for and guitar feels, looks and plays very good too...
I'm already looking for another westone and at the moment I spotted a Thunder IA black (2nd version) and a Concord II of the later ones with the eagle logo...
I already know the thunder and I like it very much but what about the concord??

Rainbow 1 Price
I picked up a superb Rainbow 1 with original Westone case for £259 from a brilliant guy at
www.whitstableguitars.co.uk
Its one of the 1983 models, with the inlaid Westone logo on the heastock and the smaller horns.
it was in beautiful condition and has an amazing low action which is a joy to play.
I tried Seymour Duncans on it, but have gone back to the original Westone II pickups.
I love it....now all I need a a Session II to join it!!!

Westone Prices
I picked up an immaculate 1983 Rainbow 1 with original hardcase for £259
My Session II cost me £450!!!
I'm a great believer in the fact that if its the right guitar, you always find a way to get it!!!!
(my budget for the session II was £250......but I just went for it anyway......sold an old QUAD 44/405 hifi system to pay for the Session!!)
I LOVE it!!!
Happy strumming

Re: Rainbow II
...dead right, Peter!! Mind you sometimes you just have to be a touch realistic, too; I mean, there are one or two guitars that I have passed on that I'd really like simply because of the shipping to NZ, and now with the credit crunch and the low NZ dollar, well, it's just out of the question, I'm afraid! But I'm glad that you've assuaged the GAS syndrome.... for awhile, anyway and that Session looks the goods, man it really does; I could easily give it house room, but the Rainbow...; never been a fan of the 335 so they're a bit lost on me, eh!!
